Interceptor unkonventionally replacing shield

Hi, I'm new to AX combat.
I recently observed a strange behavior regarding the shield replacement of an interceptor. Normally I expect a replacement after each heart, but when using the modified plasma chargers and the interceptor being at 40% Hull left, the shield sems to recharge after each shot. Is it a bug or is the damage output too much (so it replaces the shield which normally would be for the next heart at 20% hull stenght)l? Did not see that by using modified shards...The heart is glowing like being excerted, but with shields on. Very difficult to destroy then.

Should I do less damage :) ??

Exactly, too much DPS - if the interceptor loses too much hull too quickly it will trigger a panic shield. It happens a lot when people miss the hearts using plasma chargers and damage the hull instead.
It can also happen if the interceptor puts a shield up after losing a heart, but somebody takes it down too quickly (before the interceptor starts firing again).

Yes, the "panic shield" problem is quite common with modplasma arnament facing the last Cyclops heart. If I am fighting one alone, I turn off all but one of my PCs for the last heart. With a friend, we can just speedrun it using coordinated barrage, and usually well before the last heart. I suppose one could also try to charge the shots less or shoot at distance, but that hasn't worked out for me yet.

Thanks, that explains what I've been seeing. Came here to ask this very question.

I haven't done much AX, and I've been concentrating on surface ports to remove swarms from the situation. I've been noticing the shields on interceptors coming straight back up again after a few seconds, which has been really frustrating. And yeah, I'm using plasma chargers without having the best aim.
