Interdicted by group of 4 Basilisks? is this normal? its never happened to me before. i was jumpping from COLSACK SECTOR FC-U B3-5 to THAILA LD-L A21-0 heading out to go exploring for a couple days. freaked out because my exploration conda could never out run anything if it decided to attack, Luckly they shut me down, scanned me and went on their way.

It’s not unheard of.
Hyperdictions outside of the bubble or areas of heavy Thargoid presence will generally happen as you have described. They will shut you down, scan you and leave.
They will aggro if you fire on them or have some things that they dislike in your cargo. Such as Guardian or Thargoid materials. I don’t remember off the top of my head exactly what cargo makes them angry. Maybe someone else can provide a list or approximate link.

So it's possible it could have been completely random? I bookmarked the area am right now planning on going back and jumping around that area sometime after my expedition turn in all my map data and maybe go help with the war on the titans a little more. Also thankfully the guardian frame shift booster didn't set them off i've also never been inter or hyperdicted while having on on a ship.
They don't care about modules, only cargo. Guardian cargo makes them immediately hostile, thargoid cargo (except for meta-alloys) makes them give you a warning to drop it followed by going hostile if you don't.
