anyone else go to interdict a ship and NOT have the other ship turn red or the interdiction succeed even though it says "interdiction complete"? it's happened to me a BUNCH of times now. kind of annoying as a pirate

Means someone else, like an NPC, has already interdicted the ship.
Not sure that is what is exactly happening but sounds like it. But usually it is an instant FAIL not Complete and you get a fine if not in anarchy system.

nope no instant fail, i get the blue and red bars and play the mini game. except when i win, i drop out alone. i KNOW it's going to happen now when i go to interdict someone and they stay yellow instead of turning red

There are many ways it manifests itself.
Too many interdictions by pirates and government forces.
Winning an interdiction (from either side) and the opposite effect happens (you are interdicted even though you were winning, or you lose an interdiction and the other ship gets away).
Instant submissions even before you do anything.
There are other ways, but the threads above talk about it a lot.
