Horizons Interdictions for no known reason

In the last couple of days I've been interdicted twice traveling back to Altair - Solo Orbiter (my home port) and can’t figure out why since I was carrying no cargo, passengers, material or data...the ship was completely empty!! I am also not wanted or have any outstanding fines. As I approached Solo Orbiter I received a message saying something like "You're mine now" then was immediately interdicted and fired upon and my ship destroyed.
This never happened before v2.2 and is extremely frustrating to say the least. Seems like every other trip I make whether hauling passengers or not I get interdicted and my ship destroyed which means as a newbie for every step forward I take two steps back. Guess I'll just quit playing for now and check back in a few weeks when hopefully there's a patch.

Actually this happens a lot. It has happened many times when a pirate will say "Your cargo is now mine" or "All that tasty cargo" when in fact we have a clean cargo hold and even no materials.
If you are carrying materials it is a legitimate reason to interdict you.
Often when interdicted the pirate will ask you to drop your cargo (sometimes) and if you are not quick enough he will shoot you.

Sorry man, but Mike is right - it happens all the time. I started playing in February and it's happened to me since the beginning. Yes, it's annoying as all hell but I sincerely doubt it'll ever be "fixed". It could be an intended game mechanic for all we know.

That said, you have options once you're interdicted - you can try to fight it, but know that you're more or less dead if you lose the interdiction and your FSD fails, or you can submit, avoiding the possibility of the FSD failure, and then do the "boost, chaff and jump to another system" standard action to get away.

It's still possible you'll be blown away depending on what you're flying and what interdicted you, but then it might be more of an issue regarding outfitting than tactics.

All I can say is, you were lucky before!

I keep being interdicted, but I have bounties outstanding.

I have noticed in 2.2 that I don't see any text from the NPC before interdiction.

My ship is a Type 6 Transporter so I'm pretty much dead no matter what I do.

You're probably right but with v2.1 I went a month with very few interdictions and only lost one ship but since v2.2 I average at least one interdiction per session and have lost at least four ships (lost count) and I only accept missions with passengers that are rich tourists with no red flags like being high risk or criminals. I don't even except them if it states they are secretive and don't like being scanned.

Passenger missions are a high risk for interdiction. They are smuggling missions by another name.

Exactly right, covers it all, luck or lack of. A throw of the random number generator.

Interdictions are different for everyone, depends on where you are, what your doing, where your going, what your carrying and quite possibly how long it has been since your last interdiction. One thing is certain they have been pretty much the same since I joined pre-horizons.

I've had almost all the scenarios going way back, with no cargo, with cargo, with no warning and with warning, sometimes the interdiction never happens and the NPC just disappears as he runs into a star or planet in super-cruise. Had them heading towards and away from stations, planets, rings and asteroids clusters. As well as coming back from week long deep space exploration, and they say they have been looking for you all this time, how special I feel [mad]. Those 25 jump journeys where you are interdicted on the last few jumps, interdicted somewhere in the middle or the worst right from the beginning and every jump after that. Cursing when you keep getting pulled away from the station just as your about to drop down, loosing more shields and hull with each encounter and never managing to reach safety. Getting away thinking you have left him behind but he miraculously appears somewhere in front of you, or is able somehow to cover the same distance in a fraction of the time you have.

Interdictions cause some real hair pulling moments. The old Ceos/Sothis bio waste run, 35million down the drain as your expensive Python explodes a jump from your cargo drop. Leaving you with 10million+ insurance, 20million+ loss of missions, 1million+ of fines for said missions, 2million+ in full system scans there and back, along with another 1million+ or so in bounties. Not to mention the time invested to do all that over the course of half a week. [cry]

All that's happened in 2.2 is they have tweaked it and it has led to, not all, but most having a different experience than before. For me, so far I've actually seen less of them since 2.2, but I've not been carrying anything most of the time which does appear to lower the odds of it happening. They will most likely mess with it again in future patches/upgrades/developments. People need to remember this is a work in progress (I like to call it early access) game and they are still working out the problems.

Ther pirates are still demanding tasty cargo from empty ships among other stupidities.
Work in progress? More like trouble in progress!
They don't fix the bugs before they add more bugged updates.

This used to be a frequent issue, and I thought resolved, but has apparently come back with the new update. Just today, I got this nutcase DBS Elite NPC demanding my cargo, had none, and started shooting me. Further, it was one of the few small ship that has interdicted me recently.

I thought it would bug out once it had lost shields but it was determined to die and it did.

I have also noticed that security is much more responsive and aggressive; before, they would scan you, fly around, have tea or coffee while you fought your foe and, more often than not, not even fire one salvo.

FD needs to either stop the attacks for cargo with no cargo or change the canned messages (which are somewhat lacking, I'm being kind here, they need an overhaul). Better for the pirate to say "You are trespassing and now you will pay for your actions", eliminate the mention of cargo if they want to generate an interdiction. Or just have your sensor detect an attack and announce "Hostile ship, scan detected, under attack". No need for an attacking ship to make an announcement at all.

The T6 is a death trap for a newer player, I got rid of mine even before Engineers, it was a flashing "Kill Me" neon sign for everyone to see. I sold it off and put my head down and worked for a Python because I hated to run or give up cargo, now that is a real ship. Trade/fight/run/mine and light exploring, unless stripped down and specifically equipped, jump range will be around 20-25ly.

If you can't fight, run. Submit, hands off stick, zero throttle, set a hyper-jump if not already programmed,, 4 pips to engines, 2 to shields or 3/3, boost and keep boosting the instant you are in normal space, engage FSD, keep boosting during FSD spin-up and ENGAGE!

Want to improve your chances of evasion? Class 3 dirty drive and HD shields, you will be surprised at the difference they make and fairly easy to attain.

Run when you are outnumbered,m also.
But today I got called out with a load, so I ran to the port. ( He was an expert after all)
I turned around and watched. The feds were shooting at him so I joined in and got 22,000 bounty.
I thought that was a little strange as he was flying a pointy one. (maybe a python. Not sure) (No fins)
Being interdicted by an expert in a better ship with small money seems a bit "Not Right" but I don't mind. I could have docked and got TTTThhhhh.

As rrobes said, the feds are better, but not always. I think if you are friendly in that system you get better treatment.
In a close by system I got the feds doing a looksee but no help. (So be careful out there mates)
