I found this wreckage

In orbit here, Gliese 460 9, an earth-like world

As far as I could tell, I was the first to analyze this system. It's obvious however I was not the first person here. I also found 7 platinum floating 22m km away. So, a neat discovery and pay dirt :)

Was it in a USS? Because a lot of the USS locations are ship wrecks with cargo floating nearby. Granted it usually isn't platinum, so you got lucky! But beware that it's stolen and you'll only get 50% for it at a black market..

This was an Unidentified Signal Source that you checked out. They're random occurrences. This is one of the scenarios you can encounter.

Both the wreck and the platinum were separate USS real close to each other and the wreck was so close to the planet it could be considered in orbit. Either the guy smacked into the atmosphere while in supercruise (quite possible) or, which is so much more interesting, hit by planetary defenses left by a now extinct sentient species.

I know this lol I've been playing awhile. It's just fun to roleplay the reason its so close to an *uninhabited* earth-like planet. Come on ppl! Maybe I'll work this into my CMDR's story on the roleplay forum...

The two parties meet in an uninhabited system so as not to be disturbed.

Slightly spooked, Cmdr Smith left his payment a little way off in case things turned sour.

Cmdr Brown smells a rat when Smith's ship shows empty when cargo scanned.

'What you pulling Smith? Where's my sparkles?'

'Hey man, it's close, real close, keep cool'

'The stuff I got is hot so it's very hard to keep cool; so hard in fact I think the deals off.'

Brown's weapons deploy.

Smith's weapons deploy.

The rest is history, a bit of wreckage and 7t of Platinum.

Yup, if you look at the shape of the pieces carefully, you'll find that they're pieces of the Imperial Clipper. Nicely modelled wreckage too. ;)

Oh, nice! I didn't do a meticulous look around it. The plot thickens!

This is the first wreckage I've taken a close look at, are all the USS wrecks the same ship type?
