Powerplay Interesting you can now see where you are in the Top 10

as to not miss the opportunity to declare myself a clueless moron: Soontil Relics are very profitable - if you do it right. You can of course get the right distance in Kaine space, and if you do, you get paid accordingly. At a distance of 203 ly, I made a profit of 39k credits per unit, resulting in - 39 merits per unit. An 80t load gave me 3k merits.

For some reason I was a bit too fixated on the system I was playing in and didn't do a proper distance test for Soonril Relics, even though my initial test indicated they were VERY profitable both in credits and merits.

So.... there you have it. I'm dumb, and Soontil Relics seem to be one rare good that Kaine actually pays well for. Well, technically the market pays well for it.

At the risk of having sounded kind of negative earlier, I wanted to circle back around and say that I've really been enjoying this update. I think the game really needed this.

It feels more rewarding to play now, despite some of the merit payouts feeling low, and I find myself organically engaging in the content. I used to log onto the game and think, "what do I want to do?" and then I'd run a mission, because I wanted to play the game, and that is the gameplay loop I decided to engage in. No consideration for why I ran a mission other than, "It is time to play the game and I want to be entertained, but need an activity to perform to achieve that entertainment."

Now, I pick a mission because some smelting plant operators of this backwater system I need to fortify are low on food cartridges, so they want me to donate some. I accept their request and find a place to get some. On the way to the source supplier I see a wreckage site, so I stop to look for Escape Pods. After that, I finish traveling to the source and notice as I approach that someone has vandalized a holosign, so I fix that on my way in... I dock, hand over my Escape Pods, buy the requested Food Cartridges, fill the rest of the space with other commodities that will fetch a profit at the mission site, minus a little room for limpets in case I find more Escape Pods on the way back....

I feel much more like I'm participating in the game, rather than just playing it for the sake of playing a game.

And that they added SCO mechanic to the game before this update to really facilitate this gameplay ... Because it feels less tedious to travel in supercruise now, I find that I actually want to engage with supercruise and USS's now -- rather than just pointing my ship at the target and watching YouTube in short bursts... The game really is in a great state right now!

it depends on what you're in for. If you're minmaxer, module shopper or rank grinder, you might be disappointed. Personally, I joined PP2 because, after watching some preview streams, I felt as a player who has done, well maybe not everything but ALOT, PP2 gave me a reason to do stuff instead of aimlessly meandering around. So I too enjoy it a lot.

I guess we're all a bit itchy because we're trying to find out stuff.

Has anyone tried Odyssey interactions yet? I'm considering a bit of reaving for the King in my trusty Adder, otherwise its back to plan 1 of running Onionhead into systems with Black Markets.

Anyone get lvl 100's? Winters only has a 45, was honstly expecting a couple of sweaty 100's by now ...

(I don't think I can see the other leaderboards 🤷‍♀️ )
Edit: That's not me - I got a lazy 6th

For Kaine, the top player has 431k merits and is listed as rank 57.

Is this the announced adjustment for exploration and trade spam? Seems they adjusted the ranks but not the merits?
This is of course complete nonsense, disregard.

Looks right to me:

I though they adjusted earlier when I briefly got position 1 without doing anything (I think I was flying back from Colonia that day). But I don't think I was affected, despite some Rares being involved.

We have got 1 Level 100 for Torval atm but we should have 3... I stupidly fatfingered the unpledge button and another guy did it out of sympathy.

And no idea who is he (or she). 🤷‍♂️

I know, these are gankers)) from the russian-speaking community : 1,2 (she),3,4,7 these cmdrs are absolutely accurate

Yes, in the first week a commander for LYR hit rank 118 by spending all week loading is carrier with rares and then delivering them. He posted a video about it.

I wouldn't recommend trying to use a carrier now. Rare systems are packed with them and the restock rate (for me) didn't seem to be worth it. Better (again, for me) to just jump from rare system to rare system in my T8 and then turn in a nearly full hold... over and over. I'm close to breaking into the top 10 for LYR this week, but doubt it will happen.

Getting escape pods from a megaship sounds decently lucrative and enticing since that is an activity I've never done. Hmm.
