Internet Traffic Was Sassy, And thats Why, I'm late!

Hello all......

Either, I have been banned or the fact I couldn't delete my cookies the right way was preventing me from logging into the forum here for almost the entire last fortnight.

I feel like I had been effectively banned without breaching the rules!

I could still log into the tickets section and the game launcher and have only managed to successfully update the game by early this morning.

Strangely, my internet was so bad on my brand new computer, it kept timing out on me while hardly ever progressing at all.

So, I hopped on my father's old computer in the other room. As I suspect that having it sitting right next to the router would improve the performance of the connection and now that BETA TWO updated within a couple of hours instead of days on my other computer where it just got no where.

Now, my plan was to transfer the game code file folders to USB HD stick and put those on my preferred machine.

Yet, I could not find anything like that aside from the file folders for the launcher. So, I transferred those and compared them to what was already on my other computer and they looked so much the same. That I then decided to bring up the launcher on that computer to see if the game would start there as well.

My reasoning here is that perhaps the game needs to be downloaded to my account linked to place that isn't on the hard drive of my computer. I was thinking that it be stored on a Cloud

Of course, thinking about it more now. I believe that the update should then have been more instantaneous. Otherwise, I'm not really sure how they work, yet all the same when I tried to access the game from the launcher and it didn't. I proceeded to install the update at the same blisteringly slow pace it was doing so for the last four to five days while continueing to time out on me.

So, where are the bloody ED files stored?

I need to know, so they can be put where they are meant to be and I can play test the game the I would like to.

Yes, I have had quick look at the game and I'm sure I like the changes. Although, it does seem improved in some ways. Some of the changes appear to be disturbing , but that may because I 've gotten so much used to how it's has been.

At first the dive, climb, needed more work (I'm using a mouse for directional control aside from the other lateral thrusters!). It was more stop, start and I was constantly prompting the mouse to continue taking the ship into dive to get anywhere.

Until, I made the relevant adjustments in the controls options and that was fixed.

I also noticed the ship (Sidewinder) moves slower than it was before the update and that it takes longer for the ship to cool down to 0%. Hell it must have been barely 20% before I was going to run out of spare air. Which has also been reduced.

I like more colourful and less drab looking milky way. It was a lot muddier before the update.

Of course, many backers know this already.

game files are in the launcher folder (my game computer are not on atm so cant be more specific)

you might want to try a cable from the router to the computer if your on wifi, might speed things up on the download

my beta 2 download was quite fast as it just compares the old files to the new and update the files thats changed... and the 2+ GB i can download in less the 5 minutes on my fiber cable

My files are in
Code:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Frontier
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Frontier Developments

just checked and my path is this : D:/games/frontier/EDLaunch/...

but funny enough i have another folder : D:/games/EDlaunch/...

and i dont know what folder is the one used :)

probberly have the appdata folders as well, but i think thats just the user data like config files etc.

This is So Frustrating .........

My files are in
Code:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Frontier[/quote]

I found that one and replaced it with the one I made on the computer I succeeded in downloading the game onto. Yet, there doesn't appear to be anything important here.

[QUOTE="Zetta, post: 828715, member: 43391"]
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Frontier Developments

I looked in all the User folders I could find and could only find the Frontier save folder that was empty.

Where are these really?

I was thinking of moving my preferred computer out here to be closer to the Router or now that you suggested using a cable to link both computers, maybe that as well.

That other folder may be from a earlier build....check the dates on the files to be sure......

Yet, those Appdata folders are elusive and it's kind of sinister that everything I really need disappears when I need it.

So what else can I do?

Hmmmmm!

Yes, I can't find that folder at all after what Zetta has told me.

I trying your solution right now, but I'm not getting the answers that make sense.

I was looking at this Video

It doesn't make a lot sense since their version of Windows 8 appears to be working differently from mine.

Going back to bed now.....feeling kind of sick today and I've been on the pot on and off nearly all morning.
