General / Off-Topic Interstellar VFX wins Oscar 2015

So does that mean that you got the BAFTA AND the Oscar (well, part of it)? That's is so amazing. I can hardly imagine how you must feel right now (not at all, tbh).
Many Congratulations. :)

Freut mich wirklich für Dich.

Thank you very much Le-Betz :)

Yes well I dont get to bring either award home with me unfortunately, they'll be kept in a glass cabinet in work, but yes I was part of the vfx team that won them both. To be honest Im already working hard on the next show and dont have the time or energy to celebrate properly but yeah I feel well chuffed :D Certainly a first in my career!

You know that in the antique rome, when a victorious commander was granted a triumph celebration, they put a slave behind him on his chariot who constantly whispered 'Respice post te, hominem te esse memento' (Look around, remember that you are human) into his ear.

Glad to know that you obviously don't need anyone doing that thankless job for you.:D
Still i hope you get at least a halfway appropriate celebration, you really earned it.

Certainly a first in my career!
I guess that's because usually your work is only been noticed as such on screen when you mess up something?

Yep, well done. :D

I do want pics pretty soon with a Cobra mk3 next to the Oscar.

Thansk again bud :) Haha actually there is a dept that gets no credit this way, as when they do their job well it shouldnt be noticeable.. compositing! They are right at the end of the pipe as well so usually there is hardly any time left by the time they get to do their work, and most times stay in working until 3am for the last few weeks. They get paid a whack tho!

Animation wise, if we do a bad job then it gets noticed straight away and we get slammed. If we do a great job then the director gets all the credit (or the actors if its a full cg film for their voice overs)...Im not bitter honestly...;)
