Intra-galactic Neutron Loop Mapping Expedition

Hello, this is Commander Scott 'Flipflops' Harvell, in my White Pharaoh Lakon ASP Explorer, "Ol' Reliable".

I am currently underway on a solo expedition to map out a full-circle Neutron Highway around the galaxy.

I started off from Jameson Memorial on Dec. 22, 3303 out towards the Lin Shu Hollow where, while studying the Galaxy Map, I found a large concentration of Neutron and White Dwarf stars below the Galactic Plane, around -1000. Number of jumps to target, 183. Reviewing the route, only the last 17 jumps were along a Neutron Highway. Finally, once I reached my destination system: Chamio YM-Q d6-6, I decided to continue on and see just how far I can take a Neutron Highway around the Galaxy, to eventually land at the 3/4 mark, Colonia. From Colonia, I will attempt to complete the loop at the very first chain of Neutron Stars I reached, starting with system Blaa Dryou PT-R d4-13; Unofficially, the start of the Intra-galactic Neutron Loop. I have planned a detour from the loop to visit Beagle's Point, and if possible, connect a Neutron Highway from the IgNL towards Beagle's Point.

I have no deadline to finish this project by, nor do I plan to make a deadline. Some may ask, "Why? What is the point or purpose?" My answer: Why not? It may not be the most practical thing to do but, who cares? How often can you say that you were the first captain to map out a Neutron Highway that circumvents the entire galaxy. The point is to say that I did it, it is about personal achievement and my love for exploration, and giving myself a challenge and overcoming that challenge.

Please, feel free to follow my progress on the expedition through my EDSM profile: https://www.edsm.net/en/user/travel-map/id/34525/cmdr/Flipflops.

Also, I will occasionally have my stream up on Twitch. My stream can be found here: https://www.twitch.tv/flipfl0ps.

Stay true, and let the Dawn of Exploration continue for years to come!

Nice! I bet it's going to be an awesome trip!
I just came back yesterday from my first trip to Beagle Point. I just love exploring the galaxy, so it took me 80 days until I was back.
Discovered some rare systems along the way, and two of them was registered in the "Galactic Mapping Project" as new POI's, which was an extra
bonus. See my logbook at INARA.

Wish you a safe and adventureous journey, commander!

Nice project - all the best! And keep us posted.

As for "Some may ask, "Why? What is the point or purpose?"": There's been crazier/weirder stuff been proposed/done without anyone asking such a question. If it's a challenge to you, just for fun for for any other reason - go for it! :D

I've been trying to figure out exactly how to register new POI's because I have been jumping into some of the most beautiful systems I've ever seen, and some very dangerous systems, and want to register them. How did you register those systems?

Thanks for the support, Redfox!

Happy New Year's Eve my fellow Commanders!

I have just setup "E:D Market Connector" and linked it to my Inara and my EDSM. Also, I just broke 21,000 LY from Sol on-route to "PHRUA PRI FK-R D4-1", which is 10,122.46 LY from my currently location in "Greau Eaec NI-K d8-13.

Oh, and one more thing, I recently uploaded some screen shots from this expedition and a previous trip I made, that went out to the NGC 7822 Nebula. My Inara profile is: https://inara.cz/cmdr/69438/

Happy exploring! And may 3304 be the most adventurous year yet!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

Easy! You just write a post in the Frontier Forum here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...n-The-Galactic-Mapping-Project-Expedition-Hub
See instructions, requirements and how to post them on page 1.

Good luck! :)

Day 12 of the IgNL Expedition.

Current location - Phrau Flyi IB-O c6-0
Distance from Sol: 27,647.55 LY

I have spent the night on a moon orbiting a small, Class 1 gas-body, that can only be described as a larger-than-normal Asteroid. According to my surface scanner, it has 0.0050 Earth Masses and is only 1,500 km in radius.

I am 31 jumps out from my designated "checkpoint" in system Phrua Pri IQ-P D5-2. From here, I will be planning a very tricky crossing from the Circinus Transit across the upper region of The Norma Expanse, over to the the Norma Arm.

I'll post my next update once I have reached Phrua Pri IQ-P D5-2.

Just reached Checkpoint 1. System: Phrua Pri MW-N d6-0. Phrua Pri IQ-P D5-2 would have been Checkpoint 1, but the system contained nothing but the star.

Next checkpoint is still TBD.

Good day fellow Commanders! o7

Update from deep space.

I have crossed the Norma Expanse and am on my way up to the next check point on my journey around the galaxy. Currently resting in Eok Byio FY-Z d13-211. An incredible system that, at its core, contains a Pulsar that is orbiting an M-Class red dwarf less than 3Ls apart.

I recently uploaded some more pictures from my travels on my Inara Account, here: https://inara.cz/cmdr/69438/

Stay tuned for more updates!

Well, I have made it back to from my trip around the galaxy. Nearly the entire trip was able to be made via neutron stars except for about a 3000 LY section, on the opposite side of the galaxy from the bubble, where there were no neutron starts at all.

Total jumps for the start of the neutron loop, all the way around the galaxy, and back to my home in Iota Hydri was 956.
Total profit from selling exploration data: $176,441,077

Taking a break and doing to Bounty Hunting until Beyond drops. If you are ever out in Iota Hydri, hit me up.

Outstanding work CMDR. Do you happen to have a log of systems that could be used as a basis for an improved galactic loop?

Bravo! Very inspirational trip!
