So i've just started playing and the game gives you a mission "go here, talk to this person, get 10k credits". I did that, no problems but isnt there supposed to be another, similar mission that awards 100k credits? I've been playing with a friend and he said he's done it so is there something to do to unlock it or am I missing something. I've tried to google it and got nothing so any information would be greatly appreciated.

Aye, if I remember rightly it's leaving the noob area.
It'll show up as a follow on mission.
Just be aware once you do that you will not be allowed back in the noob zone.
Make sure you are ready for it.
