Introduce A Monthly Contribution Option *NOT SUBSCRIPTION*

As a way to get more funds to you devs you could introduce a sort of optional monthly sub, Say maybe $5/£5, Before the kids lose their minds and start to scream and cry this IS NOT pay to play, It's simply a monthly contribution.

1. This would give a bit more income to you devs.

2. As a thank you to players you could give any contributors of the $5 per month, Alpha level insurance access or even something else entirely like 0.05% off any ingame purchase, Something minor that wouldn't really affect gameplay.

That's it, Nothing else.

I could see a subscription where the player gets whatever is produced in the store with the agreement caviat that you still pay even if nothing is produced that month.

You'd only get the content as long as you were subscribed, but you'd have access to all of it while you were paying.

no - just no

Could you emphasize a bit more or is it just the typical anorak elite dangerous community member reaction of "I hate change or anything that would benefit the game" attitude ?

That could work, I was thinking purely on a support basis though, Hell even make it so that it gives a 0.0000001% ingame store discount, Wouldn't affect the game and it helps support the devs, Which is something that baffles me about so many people in this community, People constantly scream and cry that they want things done but don't want to support the devs, Little loopy.

If you want to contribute buy a skin every month. The second part contradicts your claim that you don't want anything for this tithe. You plainly want a KS benefit or something that's never been done before.

I do not want anything for my contribution it was just a suggestion for the inevitable people crying and screaming "I'm not paying for nothing", If They come out with a monthly contribution that has zero ingame benefits I would gladly set up a monthly contribution on top of any ship kits and paint kits I purchase.

Unlike what seems like the majority of the community I do want to see this game keep going, But a studio cannot live off fresh air.

Hey, OP. Not everyone is salty; I think you're just trying to support the game, so o7 to you CMDR. If it were done right, I'd also sub. Something like post #3 could work IMO.

no - and I really object to your rather insulting response.

The suggestion comes up now and again from the unenlightened and any effort at research would have shown you loads of smoking wrecks of preceding threads but hey, that would stop you making a post that you seem to think was an original idea.

If I wanted to pay a sub for a game I would buy a game that required it. [blah]

I bought a game that did not require a subscription and I (and many others I am sure) would be annoyed if it tried to impose such a model.

If you want to provide financial input towards the game, there is a ready mechanism in the form of store purchases.

So is your proposing a subscription model just a typical anorak "Hey look at me I made a post suggesting something, aren't I a lovely person and anyone who disagrees is just a horrible Luddite that I can insult with impunity - cos I'm like so wonderful, innit?" thread or is there a more subtle level of complaisance behind your façade?

bye...

You just made the perfect example of why this community will fail, Extremely toxic.

If you bothered to read I said a monthly contribution, NOT a subscription based game.

It is already there... it is called Frontier store and they even give you little gimmicks for contributing, like ship kits, paint jobs, audio-books... i visit the shop every month and buy a little this and that to support the game.

sophistry (the "optional" would surely inevitably evolve into "compulsory for updates" {I don't mean "seasons"} )

The OP makes a good point, my only concern about ED is how it survives, where is the money coming from ? There has been no paid content update for over a year and I cannot believe its making a fortune out of ship kits and engine colours ?

If people can be cash patrions of 3hr live streams of boredom on YouTube you would think a monthly contribution is hardly the end of the world.

Thank you someone who can finally see the big picture.

If anyone honestly believes FD are surviving on ship kits and bobble head sales they have their head in the clouds.

That's why i suggested £5 a month, It's a relatively small sum that pretty much anyone can afford.

Not really, You came into the thread with the typical toxic ED player mindset.

You just have to continue with ad hom don't you? You don't like someone disagreeing with you so you have to be insulting.

As I said above you are exemplifying the "Hey look at me I made a post suggesting something, aren't I a lovely person and anyone who disagrees is just a horrible Luddite that I can insult with impunity - cos I'm like so wonderful, innit?" mindset, it is not me being "toxic", I just disagree with you.

I blame Trump - anyone disagreeing has to be evil.

Dude, you're literally asking for a, well, not necessarily pay-2-win feature... But certainly a pay-4-advantage feature.

Sorry dude, but that alpha level insurance? You missed out. Like myself, you'll just have to get over it.

/sigh...

It doesn't have to be anything to do with insurance or ingame store discounts, It could have zero ingame benefits, As I said to someone else earlier I only suggested that as an idea.

Go to the store, buy ship skins. Problem solved.

There's been zero paid game content for quite some time as Krash Landing above said, If anyone thinks FD are surviving off bobble head and paint job sales they have their head in the clouds.

Think long term.
