Some would like to buy a gift for someone else, either in ARX or a specific ship or item. The technology already exists, like the Twitch drops. Just make them available for purchase from the shop, and ideally also integratable into digital wishlists. This would serve as a great tool for promotion.

I like this idea. It would be great to be able to treat my friends to nice things via the game, rather than a bank transfer with a message saying "buy ARX". I sometimes buy games for mates via Steam sales if they've been a bit on the fence about buying stuff, but we mostly play Elite. It'd also give me a reason to buy ARX as I'm sure there's stuff they want from the store, but most of what I wanted has been removed.
They already have a system for codes that can be redeemed for things (https://user.frontierstore.net/code/redeem), so they only need to make the website which allows you to buy codes.
