What if the aliens are there already, just in the void, and crawling along at .8C?
Ships will be shielded running at that speed,glowing blue, and can be tracked for years, if they are being looked for.
It has not been said if the hyper jumps need a gravity well to stop at, or if they can drop into the void between stars, or for that matter, of super speed also requires a gravity well to work, to have something to push against and distort.
Maybe anything beyond more or less the orbit of Neptune is beyond the game technology in drive and jump and no one goes out there (this is very much like the Andromeda series, trillions across 3 galaxies, no one goes into the interstellar void past their outer planets, the drives don't work)

Must all the aliens show up from the sky in ships that look like squid? (bad movies, you know them) (Cephalopoid, if you dont know what a squid is)
Or aliens that truly do not care about human affairs, other than the occasional to hot / too cold world in dispute.
The series Andromeda had those, in the Pyrian that lived on Venus type planets. thoroughly not interested in trade, just wanted to be left alone.
They will happily kill you if you interfere in their affairs.
