Inventory management on foot: (not) working as intended?

When boarding a ship on foot, a menu opens to select Board or Manage inventory, however the latter is not working (worked fine during the Alpha).

It is a useful feature to transfer stuff from the backpack to the ship or vice versa, but it is not working on any ships I've been using so far (taxi or mine, it does not matter).

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I am having the same issue. I hope this is a bug and not a design choice. As it stands whenever I need to get someone from my storage I literally have to land on a planet, disembark under the blue beam or stand next to my SRV in order to do any transfer management. None of this works under the blue ship beam in a station or settlement.
