Ironman mode?

Has this been brought up before? Make a mode where one essentially resets but all assets, reputation, credits rate earned are increased, in exchange if you die you get reset.
Ideas? I think it will add more tension to the game and more adrenaline rush.
Please keep combat log arguments out of this.

There's one with a full list of rules over in Dangerous Discussion, with dice roles on survival chances upon ship destruction an' all.

Steel Battalion on the original Xbox did this. If you didn't eject from your mech before it exploded, you died. It wiped your save and everything.

It's on my list of "Things I'll Never Do" for ED. :p

Agreed. Ironman/Dead-Is-Dead gaming doesn't appeal to me, it makes any game 100% unforgiving (my roomie is currently doing a D.I.D. of Fallout 4 in survival mode, I think he's taken leave of his senses).

To each their own, though.

Just reset you save if you die , your own personal ironmode you can even look on the right panel and if you have 0 rebuys share your screenie for kudos ....../thread

I think if there was a iron man mode griefers would have to be sorted as loads of people would get miffed getting picked on for example by the Corvos berks in Eravate. It's this that would need sorting.

Self Iron man mode is much more better and would allow player to play as they wanted :)

Diablo manage it with hardcore mode, but i dont see the point of it personally, you can set yourself an iron mode already by looking on the rebuy count, if its more than 0 you have failed :)

I've thought about it, but when I think of the fact i'd be the only one playing like that with risk where as others would kill people for the fun of it, it takes the joy out of it because there is no tension.

The whole point of PvP in ED is to stack the deck so that there is no risk for the attacker. Hence the 4x cool running FDL wings or the people that only attack Type #'s. Ironman wouldn't change this, it would just make it tougher when you're on the receiving end of it.

Personally, I'm not for Ironman because I like flying around in small ships (Eagles, etc), even though the risk of dying is much, much higher than if I were to just stick to tricked out larger ships (with bigger shields, HRPs, SRBs, etc).

What a controller!! A bold game in more than one way. The idea of perma-death was mad then. Add to that having spent £130/$200 on a controller, only to have your game wiped? WOW.
