Newcomer / Intro Is a top-spec anaconda worth the price?

In my oppinion the anaconda is a brilliant trader, nothing more. Lets say you kit it out for combat, spending close to a billion on it. What do you have? A really great tank. But that ship will still be slow. So in a RES, you take ages to move from one encounter to another, even if your killing speed is unmatched. In PvP, every other ship that does not like to fight you will simply run away. And you can only stare at the vanishing point in your cockpit, swinging your fists in frustration.

A real combat ship needs speed. Conda does not have that. It's a great defensive craft, but seriously lacking as an attacker.

You dont seem to consider the size of the Clipper to be a disadvantage, to many it is a huge one
The extra weapons of a Python are significant
The extra shields of a Python are significant
The 25% Cargo is significant if you trade in your Python (I dont trade in mine)
The extra money isnt much of a issue. You only lose 5% of ship cost (couple of hours trading or RES), and then only if you dont want to keep the Python which many Conda owners do
The money to kit out the Python is not lost, you can always strip the Python if required
What else are you going to do with your savings ? Wouldn't investing in a Python be better than leaving it in the bank?

In fact, unless the OP like trading, I would skip the Clipper altogether. A Vulture for RES and an Asp as a day ship would do perfectly well to get a Python

The Conda question comes later.

That's a good answer! Thank you! :)

Well, I believe it is worth while to earn one in game as a prestige status and its role as an armed freighter. Combat wise I rather go out with a Python.

It really depends on what you want to do and how do you want to do it. A Clipper or FDL are great for BH as these are fast and agile ships and these are the ships you should have if you plan some PvP BH/pirating.

A Python or an Anaconda are completely different ships, these are less manoeuvrable but can take a lot of punching, especially the Anaconda - they are more suitable for conflict zones.

Looking for some Opinions regarding the Python:

Is it really worth it Upgrading from Clipper to Python before getting enough Credits for the Conda? And when? And Why?
In terms of Cargo Capacity it's not that much more than the Clipper and the Python is much slower and more expensive.

Quickest route to the Conda: It's worth it, upgrading to python. Best way (in my opinion) is clipper to python to type 9...
clipper: 240 t cargo (with token A3 shield) Buy when you have 32-33 million for sufficient trading spec (makes up to 3 million an hour)
python:284 t cargo (with token A3 shield) buy when you have about 67 million " " (makes same as clipper due to reduced maneuverability, however, the extra 40 tonnes means you can stay at your trading source, even if it drops a little and still hit your mark!
Lacon 9: 530 t cargo (without shield, because you only run in these things: fighting interdiction or fighting them is just a waste of your time - submit/boost (up thrust FA off) and run run run, buy buy buy ;) ) buy at about 92-100 million depending on having sourced a trading route short enough to do it's business with the shorter jump range - use with extreme caution! (makes between 4 - 5 million an hour on average, but you could make more, as I use a docking computer - just like the break between trips :) )
PS I realise you are well beyond the stage of buying a clipper but I included the start bit for any budding traders reading this (and it's all my opinion, of course :) )
PPS Actually, I didn't find the speed between stations any different between python and clipper: activate frameshift as you manouvre towards your target: use FA off with upward thrust to leave mass lock from station quickly: you can chuck the python around a lot more in space stations and it's more forgiving, so I felt a lot more confident in it...but yeah
