I was at Apura, Fuca Station. I came across a mission, unobtainable for me, since it requires to be ELITE in exploration (I am only Trailblazer).
It read something like that (the text was indeed very long):

"For decades you are the role-model for all young exploreres... now we have not these kind of experienced commanders to verify a rumour, saying that there is evidence of a gate to another dimension, the so-called open door, you know what we are talking about..."

The mission requests you to go to the very outer rim of human inhabited space, some outpost, where you should investigate if the rumours are true. The mission had no monetary reward to it, as far as I remember.

Maybe the thargoids are coming to put PP out of its misery. Oh Shot, we messed up pp, quick release the thargoids.

FD have stated that Thargoids will be unannounced, it will just happen, just dont know when.

The PP faction leaders may in fact know more about the Thargoid threat than us. It doesn't take a genius to work out, who would go to war with them, who would want their help, or their technology, etc.

FD have hinted that they might not be the same Thargoids of previous games.. different clans.

If they're not threatening total annihilation of humankind (doubtful).. then they may become a new faction to oppose/support.
