Ships Is An Upgrade From A Python To An Anaconda Worth It.

Hi fellow commanders. I'm looking for some advice. I'm at the point where I've maxed out my Python to a fully upgraded combat version and was wondering if I should trade it in for the Anaconda. I've heard everything on the Conda to purchase is tens of millions including the insurance, but is it a viable combat vessle and will i regret going for it. My main love in ED is bounty hunting so will ships like the Python, Imperial Clipper, Fed Drop Ship etc run rings around me.??

The Conda is slower, but turns faster. It's got slightly more firepower, better shields, but less surplus energy. Also you're looking at the price of 2-3 maxed Pythons to max the Conda. If you have the cash, try it and see if you like it.

As someone who just did the opposite .....maybe its just the grass is always greener and no matter what you have, you'll eventually want a change ...just cause.

Take my example which was literally yesterday.

$185M+ approximatley ...to spend at Founders World. (I went from a Lakon 9 to a Conda and kept making credits until reaching this point)

For that price you can get a mostly C rated Anaconda and an A rated FSD with a great jump range.
This allows you to trade 436t while holding a Class 5 shield, multiple shield booster and enough weapons to fight.
You can trade grind to make a lot of money this way or upgrade the shields and modules to focus on combat.

But you are in a massive war boat that doesn't turn or move that well (though it does relative to its size) and can't land on medium pads.
But seeing the big nose in front of you and having enough space to do pretty much anything is pretty cool.

For the same price you can have an All A rated Python that still has a decent jump range and can be outfitted to do pretty much everything easily except trade huge quantities. It'll move much better & be far more enjoyable to fly (agility + speed) and can land on medium pads despite being a large ship.

Apples and oranges really.

I've now got just over $200M and I'm already thinking 'well for about $220M I could own a Conda and FDL at the same time and just switch around modules between them depending on what i feel like each day'
Decisions, decisions :D

I've flown the Conda under money constraints. Won't do it again. Mine stays D-Trade, and I'll rather have multiple other ships, until I can really comfortably afford kitting her out for war. Running a Conda at financial limits really feels stressful.

I have the A rated python, clipper and a well equipped anaconda for trade runs and cash. Go for the anaconda 124.8 mcr at Diaguandri with 15% off modules. 145 million and you have an excellent tradeconda, a joy to fly with 448 cargo A4 shields, 8 AO boosters and weapons. You can then make the money to buy your python again or whatever. I fly the anaconda for the most part and coming form a T9 it was pleasure to do so, I have used it for extended exploration and with a nearly 40ly jump range it can reach distant systems. I am currently over halfway to elite trade status with nearly 720 million earned from trading. I say go for it and you won`t go back.

Fly safe.

I'm doing the same as Moonax. And if you get bored with easy exploration and trading, you can always buy any small ship in the game and fit it with profits from just 1 hour of trading.

Can only speak for PvE, but :

1) To do bounty hunting, a Vulture is enough. Anything bigger don't bring much advantages, except for interception.
2) With an Anaconda, you won't be able to retrieve bounty primes in systems with have only outposts.
3) As powerful an Anaconda can be, are you ready to risk to loose it in a Combat Zone/strong USS ?
4) So trade Anacondas are ok ... if you are good at going thru stations entries.

Selled my Anaconda for a multi-role Python and never had regrets.

In pure combat terms the Anaconda definitely feels more powerful than a Python. I've been using both in high CZ recently and the Anaconda is a beast; ridiculous (and sustained) fire power, very strong shields, better turning, but it's slow. If you're fighting against wings (who generally don't run away) it's great, but if you're chasing a loan target it may not be the best solution.

A-spec is going to cost you about 400m though. If money is a problem then you can always get a D-rated trade 'Conda and comfortably make >8m cr/hr. Grind your way to Elite trader and then no more money problems.

I toyed a bit with Coriolis and Python and Conda. Goal: sustained shield stripping and small flies firepower and Cannons for the big game with decent shielding, sustained by SCBs.
Conda: http://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda/...o5o5o5j5j5j5e5e5e27.Iw18ZlA=.IwBhrSunwJnvYQ==
Weapons and 1 each of the 6B, 5B and 4B SCBs can be online at the same time, giving 12 total charges that fill the shields half. Standard shield, plenty of utility slots there.
Python: http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/27...00m04p15o5o5j5j2b59592h.Iw18eQ==.IwBhrSu1lkg=
Again weapons and 1 each of 6B, 5B and 3B SCBs work at the same time, giving 8 total charges almost filling the shields full. Prismatic shield, utility is scarce on the Python.
Send those two 1 vs 1, Conda wins easily. Send 3 Pythons like that against the Conda and it's toast, even though is costs nearly as much as the three Pythons together.

to fully upgrade an Anaconda will cost a lot of credits, but it becomes a difficult ship to take down. it is much slower, and hitting ships smaller than a Vulture can be tedious. I'd prefer using my Anaconda for trading and using a Python for combat, since the Python only lacks the two small and one huge hardpoint. The shields are weaker, but having a few boosters and cell banks usually keeps you safe. When you're using the Anaconda for combat in PvP, I'd recommend being in a wing since it is a support ship. some smaller ships might run rings around you. I countered this by reversing fully and firing upon my targets. in short, the anaconda is worth it if you have the credits and know how to use it to it's full effectiveness.
