Is anyone else finding it difficult to sleep tonight?

It's times like these that I am SOOOOOO glad that I am self employed.
And work from home on my computer.
Will go to bed tonite, wake up, and download and play Horizons with my
morning coffee.

then we get to the other question: how overloaded will the beta downloading bandwidth be? is it better to be first in the gate? or a bit after the initial swell?

I am trying to figure out what time EST (New York City) this will be released at. Anyone want to take a shot?

By the way new to the forums. Purchased the Beta version and have yet to play Elite at all, so REALLY can't wait.. Purchased an x52 and TrackIR just for this game!

11 AM to noon... or not. :) (This is just a guess. It could very well be earlier or perhaps later.)

:( That late? I was planning to stay up to play tonight!

It could be earlier, but I wouldn't expect it too early in the morning tomorrow for you. But hey, you never know; FD might release it soon after turning on the lights. 8 AM would be just as reasonable, really. I was more just making an offhanded guess. :)

Y'all realise it is a beta that is releasing right? first 2 to 3 days you should be getting more disconnects and crashes to the point of it being unplayable. I don't understand how people can be excited for that.

don't get me wrong I am looking forward to horizons, but I'm just realistic in my expectations of how the first couple of days will handle. Enough not to make me jitty and sleepless :)

I guess the reason I have a hard time staying awake is the fact that my office is around 10 steps from my bedroom, sometimes working from home can also be a disadvantage lol

I have to stay awake and work all night tonight, so the hard part for me will to be able to stay on task when the early reports from those who have beta access start to show up on the forums and the web (sigh)

You just described my experiences with The Star Citizen 2.0 PTU Alpha.

It will be the usual affair. There will inevitably be issues, especially with something this big.
There will be howls and cries, people screaming "it is not good enough" and they will want their money back, etc, etc. In the meantime FD will be diligently working in the background releasing patches, etc, and all will eventually be good.
I predict there will be a whole heap of new issues that will hit the servers under the strains of the new environments.

I am looking forward to seeing the beta though. We will get glimpses of things between the disconnects :) It is just the way it is with projects this big.
Yeah there will be issues but that is usually what happens in betas. That's the point of Beta. Throw it out in the real world and find the things you didn't even think you should have affected and could not replicate in the small scale test environments.

I have been in software development for over 30 years and using the word Beta and Demo is usually a trigger for failures.

They will get there. But I think I will ignore the complainer threads on the forum, considering there are already threads blasting horizons and they haven't even tried it for real yet hehe.
