Is Beluga made from balsa wood?

I was carting some passengers in my meatwagon from Parutis to Medb (you can make 50mil per run but you'll blow your brains out from boredom), when I noticed that my Beluga is getting damaged 17%-19% per round trip.

This is that secret hidden special damage two screens behind regular repair. Whatever the lame excuse for that is, it's not a subject of this post.

I'm just wondering HOW AND WHY is Beluga getting damaged so much without any collisions or combat, when my Python can jump half a dozen times, scoop a star for some go-juice, scrape the surface of the planet, bump into 20 outpost data beacons, and suffer only 1% damage?

Is this a bug or a feature?

It's called wear and tear, all ships degrade faster when travelling long distances between stars in system. Larger ships suffer more than smaller ships. Are you really making much money in the long run this way?

Supercruise damages the hull. The longer you're in supercruise, the more hull damage you'll acquire.

Ah. So it's a feature then. Fantastic. I would have thought things would be more durable in 35th century, but alas - no.

As for the money, I can get 45mil per run with a Beluga on this run while friendly/cordial. I'd guess at allied it would increase to maybe 60? Haven't gotten there yet and not really planing, it really is boring as bat excrement.

Oh, I've also noticed that many criminal passengers are noted as such, but the text is not red and there is no "Illegal passenger" notification once you start flying. I guess that isn't exactly intended, but I'm treating that as a feature and not a bug cause it suits me fine ;)

No, its a solid tank:

You're confusing the wear and tear with damage. Its not damage. All ships are equally affected by wear and tear. If you are taking damage without being hit or doing something that causes damage, then it would be very strange.

A bug that i haven't reported yet is if you fly one shieldless, simply the plaform disengaging and lowering knocks a percent off your hull.. unless you've got your hand on vertical thrust before it happens.

Feature maybe?

I recently added a beluga back into my fleet, its canopy and thruster noise are close to the best. I think its the new old vulture. You have to compromise outfitting but if you can make it work its a great experience, and all the more satisfying because of the challenges in using.

I think you are confusing real world with game. I've read somewhere that those "loose nuts and bolts" reduce ship's armour by 25% or something. It may not be called "damage" but it sure affects being on the receiving end of pew pew.

Something to think about as well: When you are in supercruise, you can hear the low rumbles across the hull. I imagine this is the stress that the fsd is putting on the outside of the ship (hence why you need to retract hardpoints when you wake out)
