Is changing PS4 id safe ?

I've read that (probably after some PS firmware update) you can change your PS id. Will this affect the ED login ?

I'm guessing it might not as ED account is linked to our PS via Sony login (not using PS id, but email/password).

Things like first discovered/mapped won't change. If you did that under one name it sticks no matter what.
