Is completing an Orca assassination completely impossible?

You'll always get an Orca if you find them again. Tried it myself. Fixed in 1.2 apparently.

no chance
i abandoned for sure 50 of these damn orca missions......if not 100
if i calculate the time loss from this stupidity :-(

I actually completed my Orca kill mission, go figure. What I did was when I first encounter it, I did not shoot and left instead. Afterward, somehow it takes like 20 more USS for the target to reappear in another clean Orca (close to giving up at that point). My rep is quite good so I thought 1 murder should not degrade it much, so before I abandon the mission might as well kill this thing. I killed it (it does not even defend itself) and the mission complete notification appears (along with a bounty on my head for murder).

Yeah the most prudent course of action is just abandoning it. I have no idea what I did to have the kill register. I was like neat, but I did not do something specific or special as far as I can see...

Fourth orca, this one actually shot back but didn't register. It missed, too.
Maybe I should actually get hit?

ok took 5 minutes for him to finally line up a shot, but he finally hit me. Orca #5 didn't count either
