Engineers Is DPS with engineering broken

My burst class 2 fixed puts out 13 dps without engineering and 12.48 dps after grade 5 rapid fire.

Is this a bug? Or do I throw engineering in the bin?

So what can you do to a burst with engineering rapid fire?

1. add jitter
2. decrease resilience
3. increase heat produced
4. decrease dps
5. increase distributor draw

Seven burst lasers all with rapid fire all with the same decrease in DSP with all the same negatives. I don't need to give you a screen shot.
Just avoid rapid fire on the burst and go with pulse.
Class 1, 2 and 3 weapons on my gunship.

Hang on. Grade 5 Rapid Fire should decrease Distributor Draw per shot between 26% and 33%. It decreases the damage of each individual hit a little but overall should be increasing DPS. Jitter kind of stinks but on a G5 it's not that bad. The increased heat comes from firing more; seven burst lasers is a challenging fit even with the gunship's massive distributor and some engineering on that.

Do you have any Experimental Effects? Some of those can decrease direct DPS as well.

To be honest it sounds like you should mix up your weapons to have a blend of thermal & kinetic, and then consider a different blueprint for the lasers. Efficient is great on energy weapons, high-end Focused could do good things for your smaller lasers, and depending on the fit of your weapons & such there could be other good options as well.
