Is ED unstable, or is it my PS5?

The bundles "with game" PS5 are not selling as good as Native Disc versions did...
The Digital only bundle sell worse... The bundles are Diigital download code versions so theres no reselling the digital included title after playing...
The UK left EU so there are Full import fees required now on imports on all Hardware...

The elite dangerous CGs on the console versions are over... The FC moving from PC 4.0 game versions are over...
Galnet is over on console... this has fixed many of the issues for PS5 for elite dangerous...

Other games like horizons forbidden west are advertising there new DLC So DLC+base game bundles will be due...
with saturday and sunday being none delivery days youll be looking at walking to Each shop to confirm stock levels...

guys, please help
can I get a ps5 now anywhere before Christmas? if I get it from Europe will it cost me more? should I pay vat or anything else?
Ps5 is in stock in UK stores: Argos, Currys PC World, AO, and The Game Collection. If I were you I would buy it here in the store with a warranty and just without extra fuss. I don't like to resolve and deal with stuff like VAT and other taxes for buying a product over 300 GBP, going to the post office, and so on. Such shops like Currys PC World, The Game Collection, Argos, and others do everything for you, they have all the needed papers including cmr papers to cross the borderline fast and easily. So yeah, go and check in the stores, I'm sure you'll find one for a good price.

I am experiencing quite frequent random crashes when playing Elite Dangerous on my PS5. They may happen in almost any situation but by far the most common one is when jumping to another star system (just a second or two after the jump animation starts).

For quite long time I thought that it's just the game that's unstable. It's annoying, but I can live with it. However, lately I have started suspecting that could it perhaps actually be my PS5 console? (This doubt was elicited when I got a crash in a different game as well.) The console doesn't seem to be overheating (the air exhaust at the back actually feels quite cool, even after a long playing session), but there could be a myriad of other reasons.

Does anyone else experience frequent crashes when playing the game on the PS5? Is this normal?

As mentioned, the crashes are annoying, but I can live with them. However, it would ease my mind if I knew it was the game and not the console.
I’m playing on ps5 without issue

Welcome new forum poster

Yep and youll have even less chance of getting an issue as the Galaxies are now Split in the game... from 3.8 and 4.0 as updates have ended for the PS4 version.

FC usage from Live 4.0 no longer effects legacy 3.8 PS4 versions...
Community Goals server load orange sidewinder crash to menu issues cant happen now as CGs are cancelled for 3.8...
Galnet news and events have no effect on PS4 3.8 version galaxy...

They have fixed many a crash by removing content from the console version...

To be absolutely fair, they didnt actually removed any content
More precisely, they stopped adding new content (yes, Galnet News and CG do qualify as new weekly content, while the new thargoid content never made it in 3.8)

If it's indeed so that the main reason for the crashes was related to server communication and synchronization with what other players are doing (especially in community goals), then the separation of the two versions may indeed have reduced the number of crashes. In other words, the reason for the crashes was not fixed, they were just effectively removed.

The one i have has been disconnecting for hours at a time for the last couple days.
Well it's surely specific to your console or internet connection...

For your PS4, try to rebuild the database from the safe menu and check are you signed into the proper network...

For your network, check connection strength and maybe try to restart your router... 🤔😯😀🤘 .

Restore to default?
No, just rebuild database! - it won't delete anything, it'll just clean up any fragmented files, check for and hopefully fix various minor system errors!

I rebuild mine every year or so or if the system ever starts freezing etc...

All in, it's probably a problem with you actual WiFi, but a database rebuild is fairly minor generally five minute task, that can only help keep things running smoothly, but restoring to default sounds like a reinitialised function that could wipe all data on the system, so you certainly need to be careful what options you pick there! 😯😀🤘 .

I've had it on PS5 for months and maybe experienced three crashes altogether. The only thing that might be different on mine in the form factor, it's a pre-cooler shrinkage one, if that matters at all. First iteration. I also unlike most other users always use the controller corded. I use a 1080p monitor too. Can't think of anything else that might be different.

Timing may be different, as well as where you are in the game. As in, when you are playing the game. If the crashes are caused by buggy communication code between the game and the Frontier servers, it may be that what's happening at the servers affects how frequently it crashes. How many other players are in the same system, for example.

Ooh I completely forgot. Yeah I play offline all the time.

It was definitely way more unstable before it went into Legacy mode, a lot of console Fleet Carriers were likely decommissioned at that time, a huge chunk of players completely quit or migrated to PC.
The FCs jumping or filling up systems had been among the sources for crashing in the past (systems full of fleet carriers would frequently cause crashing on PS5 back then).

I had at least one crash every single session I would play on my PS5, but I haven’t touched it on there since migrating to PC.

I did re-install on PS4 Pro, as I have some friends who couldn’t migrate to PC.

You mean in solo mode? I don't think the game can be played offline (because most stuff comes from the Frontier servers, AFAIK).

In my experience solo mode doesn't really make much of a difference. (Ok, maybe it does/did. What I mean that the crashes I experienced all happened while in solo mode, so that mode in itself wasn't the solution.)

I forgot how long the loading screens are in this game in legacy on legacy game software (n).. and no mouse use on this !"£!"£!"$£"$"£ map screen (n)... How did i live like this.... lol
But the joy of hotas ❤️ use... Another email of to nvidia.... (y)
Moved the FC...

Been on today NO crashes on PS5 but then there's no CG as it ended Friday the 7th already as it was open to PC users in legacy as well... all over...
So around 12PM thursday - friday morning the 7th is when it should have crashed on people...
So keep an eye on this topic for likely crash times...
