Discussion Is EDSM broken?

After I was awarded Elite in Trade I set off to Explore the Black, EDSM is saying I have made 348 system discoveries?
Has EDSM not been around very long? Or is this correct?

I assume "Distances submitted" will be once I dock somewhere?

No I think Distances Submitted is when you provide EDSM with triangulation data to help their mapping project. I have been a member for over 2 years and still have 0 for that value, I have embarrassingly not remembered to try and help in that way.

Nope you have to go to the star in game... then open the web page on EDSM and select distances...
It will then give you a list of distance locations and require you type those systems then into the galaxy map in game, you then on the web browser fill in the distance figures per each system one at a time... while being at the target location...
once the verification script does the math... you get credited...

System discovered first is a number of system that no one was in before you. If you are close to the bubble this value will be low.

And this number is based on your log files, if you have been flying around but files are missung it will not be on edsm

I'm currently in The Norma Expanse doing my Exploration so it seems i picked a very good route that no one has been down before- almost all of the stars I've been to show in the EDSM as me being the first to enter the system. Sweet- I thought maybe it wasn't around for very long and that's why it is saying this.
I'm really hoping to find lifeforms but so far no luck
