is elite a simulator, a mmorpg, a board game, or something else?

In my mind, it's something else OP.
Elite Dangerous is an 'Elite' game, the fourth in the series, and that's about as far as I would go in classifying it.

It borrows elements from other genres but doesn't fit neatly in any of those boxes, so it creates it's own box labelled 'Elite Game'.

I'm with the OP. I have no clue what their doing. Make more space ships, make more modules/weapons, improve mission immersion, then they would win the hearts and minds of gamers everwhere. That's all they had to do. But instead they chose to do this? I just really don't get it, or why they would add so much.... drivel, that's the only word I can think of to describe it. The game is called Elite: Dangerous, and I nearly fall asleep now after 10 minutes of trying to thumb through all the menus and walls of text.

The only thing that makes me laugh about it, is the look on the Call of Duty kids faces when they play it for the first time on console... lol
