Is FD dialing the texture detail back up?

Sorry that I can't be bothered to supply pics for comparison, but is FD dialing texture detail back up? I remember pre release, that cockpit surfaces had a (for lack of a better word) gritty fidelity which was replaced before release for more generic surfaces.

But I just took my Asp Explorer out for a spin, and surface textures on the dash are looking very much as sweet as I remembered them way back when.

So, are others seeing this, or is it my imagination?
 
How do you propose this happened without a patch? Did FDev just decide to winkle your .ini settings behind the scenes through transactions with the servers?

:D I haven't played much these last couple of months, and haven't really been paying attention to graphics in general. It just struck me as odd. Has there been a graphics patch, do you know?

Graphics are defintely getting better with each update. Certain things are still not as good as back in Gamma - Lakon cockpit/bridge textures took a massive hit about a year ago, have slowly been getting better with various updates.

Thanks Commander. Glad to know I'm not imagining things. :) I was genuinely excited when I noticed the textures on the dash of my AspX. Coming back to form. Very good. And with Dr. Kaii's draw distance enhancer things are looking sweeter than ever. (Well not ever, but in a long time).
 
They did redo the asp cockpit textures for 2.2.

The reflective surface made it hard to read some info, so they switched it back to a matt surface and it's much much easier on the eyes now.

Yeah, it has that gritty worn slightly faded fidelity to its texture. Almost looks real. :)
 
Actually didn't notice a change myself, but between my graphicsconfig tweaking and sweetfx settings I've probably thoroughly obscured any minor changes that have happened over the last few months or overridden them entirely.
