Is Federal Rep System Bugged?

Promoted several times by the Federation but my rep never changes from "unfriendly". So don't promote me if I'm unfriendly or are the feds just dumb? Anyone else getting this?

" Is Federal Rep System Bugged?" totally. I have been playing since gama and one scan resulted in my status going to unfriendly with every single system in the federation and every single one needs to be improved individually. It's a huge game breaker.

You may wish to try sticking in one system and grinding away until your Fed rep is neutral again. That will probably raise your status with all subfactions as well.

if you bounty hunt a criminal that is part of a Federation faction... guess what the consequences are... even though it was legal to shoot him?

yup; you opened fire on the Federation. plain and simple. the don't like people that fire at their members.. criminal or not.

thus its wise to add a personal filter when scanning down wanteds... make sure they are not a federation faction member.. pirate factions may still apply.

for there is defunately a difference between the criminal log books, and how a society views your actions. just ask Batman... or Hellboy. :)

yep like Cat_Astrophe said you can stick with one group that has large influence. I grinded my way back from unfriendly to neutral by doing lots of missions for Federal Congress and Mother Gaia in Sol. Doing humanitarian missions helps also.

Didnt work for me. It's one faction at a time out of every single one. Been doing it for about a week at Sol. Went up lots of ranks in the Navy (now warrant officer) but still unfriendly status everywhere in federation systems. Which is a shame.

It came as the result of doing a mission for... the federation. No piracy, no shooting police etc. Just one scan effected status in every single federation system. Since then I have gained about 4 or 5 ranks in the Fed Navy and the whole federation except two systems are still unfriendly.

It's clearly a bug because that doesn't happen if you attack the police. If you assault the police you get a 200cr ish fine and about a day to pay it off and your rep is only affected slightly in that system even though your status becomes wanted.

The game is still fun and a fix may come one day soon. It's just worth keeping a eye out for this and other rep bugs that can be avoided. Sofa, seasonal movies, brandy and tea always perks me back up.

So... the Federation rates you as "neutral" or "friendly" now? That's a peculiar situation.

Well I can just talk for me but I was also affected by that "illegal cargo" bug and went from friendly to unfriendly with the whole federation.
Today I gained my reputation back to neutral as said by doing lots and lots of missions for the big dealers in the Sol system as well as helping missions for other.
The Navy Rank has nothing to do with the general reputition btw.

Yeah, I see that repeated and it just doesn't seem to make logical sense. One would think bad rep with them would be more likely to cause them to drum you out of the service, not allow promotions... but they do. Must have mighty low recruiting standards.

Just checked. I am unfriendly every where in federation space except one single station in Sol. I even have got a pass to Ross 128 and when I got there even Ross 128 was unfriendly status.

Yup the Navy rank has nothing to do with reputation which is just daft as the missions come from federal security officers and the federal congress at Sol, the federation capital. I haven't just been doing those missions, I've done about a week of rep missions.

Parva - are you neutral with all fed systems?

This game is playable but very buggy and grinding away to make up for a bug that hasn't been fixed (so it might happen again) is a very bad use of my free time but there are other aspects of the game that remain fun.

making logical sense: Black ops agents. No one really likes them, either.

Another example: getting caught up in a Craigslist hustle/scam... and getting caught. Those were started by citizens on a public bulletin board, as well. its a Big world out there.

ooh! another one:
with great power (joe shmoe in an armed spaceship), comes great responsibility. And publicity. And consequence. Not everyone can succeed at being a Rock Star... heck, not even Rock stars can.

Well, in theory you will get a Fed rep boost every time you manage to make a subfaction like you... or there may be a lot of Non-Fed bounty hunting in your future. I was hit by the same bug and it was reminiscent of what happened in the first version of the game. I remember having to put everything else on hold and concentrate solely on rep until it was fixed. Facing that again seemed like too much trouble, so I....... reset. That is an option too, albeit a little unpleasant.

Edit: It occurred to me to mention that I managed to raise my rep with the Feds to friendly purely by bounty hunting... so I got paid for the trouble.:)

Yes, back to the start. For most of my missions the blue triangle (positive rep) was displayed also for all other factions in the system.
Guess thats a sign that the overall rep went up.

wow that works? :-D

Ben, I had the same thing but it is not bugged. I was scanned ones and went from friendly to unfriendly, after 1 week i was at the point to clear my save but i decided to not give up. It took me about 12 day's to get back to neutral and now i am back to friendly again, it takes a lot of time and credits to win back the trust. Do a lot of missions and especially donantion missions, even bounty hunting helps a lot i noticed but i killed only independed ships. After you claim your bounty's the blue Arrow don't show up, but when i left the station than the blue Arrow would show up. I hope this will help you in your attempt to get back rep with the feds.

I'm not sure that's the case anymore - there was a recent changelog that stated killing wanted ships no longer negatively affects your reputation with their faction. I've killed lots of fed pirates and don't seem to have suffered for it. Indeed I seem to get rep when I hand in bounties.

(Arguably killing wanted members of pirate factions should decrease your rep with them.)

I don't think this is true. I am friendly with the Feds and bounty hunt many green/fed-friendly ships that are wanted . . . and it doesn't affect my rep with feds or local factions . . . sometimes the security ships turn red and attack but that seems to be a bug

Edit: in fact it increases my rep with both
