It is likely that Planet Coaster is going to be Frontier's cash cow. There is a lot of excitement for it and the genre has a much larger market that space games have.
Elite is Braben's baby...I would predict that if ED wasn't pulling a sufficient profit, it would be buoyed by revenue from Planet Coaster.
However, based on their last financial report (which includes development on two games, only one of which is generating revenue) ED is doing healthily enough and probably will for the foreseeable future.
