Is it a problem if the 3.9 download won't complete by the time Gamma gets released?

I'm still downloading 3.9, and only half done at 14.5 KB/s
Now 3.91 is already out.
And I think I might not be done when Gamma hits...

Will this be a problem? Do I need to install from scratch anyway, so I can stop downloading for now?

Or will the Launcher sort out the different patches automatically?

(So far, it hasn't been very automatic. If it looses bandwidth cause I'm browsing the web, it'll stop with a dialog box I have to manually click and then manually start the download again. I think FD should try to make their download routines more robust. I don't have this problem with other download tools.)

Let it finish (or kill the launcher and try downloading again and see if you get a better speed). Once done, it'll probably grab 3.91 (unless killing the download then makes it download 3.91 which includes 3.9 as the updater only downloads the files it needs). You don't need to remove the whole thing and start again.

now, which answer to pick?

I already killed it while the launcher was showing 3.91 at the top, by rebooting the computer earlier, so I guess I'm downloading 3.91 now.

So it seems it'll just stack additional updates by syncing with the repository.

Maybe waiting would work well if a lot of files change from 3.91 to Gamma, since everything I download now might get replaced again

But then, FD wrote it was somehow important that they staggered the releases, instead of putting everything into one patch. *puzzle* ;-)

My understanding of the patcher is that it verifies against the files on the server and then downloads anything different (not sure if it grabs the whole file or delta patches) so it shouldn't matter. I would probably wait as it probably will end up replacing a lot of the files you are currently downloading.

The reason they staggered the release is because they wanted to make sure there were no "show stoppers" in the 3.9 update before they let the alpha backers in.

You might get errors if the source changes while it's downloading (I did as 3.9 changed to 3.9.1 while it was downloading). Just check for updates again and Upgrade again.
