Engineers Is it better to fully get one grade and then going to the next?

Hi all,

Is it better to fully get one grade and then going to the next?
Or if you see the next grade is available just take iT?

I have completed one grade before going to the next, was iT a waste?

To be fair..

I was wondering on how much of the last grades being filled has a bearing on the number of rolls at max..

I've spent so many mats lately xD Please tell me it's the case so i can save some grade 5's.

There's no effect. Each new grade is the same whether you maxed the old one out or not.

Absolutely right when you have the engineer at lvl 5.

However I often spend as long as I can on the lower levels if my Eng. lvl is below 5.
Better to use 40 units of Sulfur, Iron, Nickel, and some lvl 1 bits of data, etc, than use even a few higher lever mats to get the engineer to the to lvl 5 access.
