Is it company policy to ignore support tickets?

So, on 30th December I traveled with an Carrier to HIP 58832 (Rackham's peak).
One reason was to get the 5000 ly away from Home for some Engineers.

But the distance doesn't update correctly. It still shows me 1600ly. This was my max distance I traveled a few weeks ago.
The Second thing, on Star Map shows me that I never visited HIP 58832 (Rackham's peak). So this is definitely a bug.

A few Days I get an answer:
I've checked your request and just to clarify the 5000 LY is the distance as the crow flies, so this will be a straight line from a point of origin and this won't count any turns. The best way to make sure that you travel this distance would be to check from the starting point and plot a straight course away from it for about 7000 LY (just to be sure). This should help update the distance for the mission.
I should travel 7000 ly so I can be sure it works correctly?
In the Engineers Screen it shows me (max. distance from Start Point) It say not, that I have to fly with my own Ship or I have to fly an straight line.
So I answered, that there also exists an bug report, because this is a known bug.

Distance from start system does not update

Today I never get an answer for about two months. They ignore my. My ticket is still open.
Yes, I know, I could fly this 5000 ly in this 2 months...
But I don't know what is much more worse... that they can't fix an simple bug, btw. correct my DataBase entry or they ignore me?
Is that your company policy when you could not solve a simple bug? I am very afraid about the Odyssey addon.

Does travelling on a carrier count towards the Engineer distance requirement?

Is it a bug or a designed feature? Hitching a lift on a carrier would seem to not meet the Engineer’s requirements as you’re not actually doing the 5000ly distance in your ship, the carrier is.

Support probably didn't answer again because they thought you were just "looking for an argument". If you politely updated the ticket they might notice and reply again - they have a lot to track.

But as others have said, this is a PICNIC issue - Palin updates on hyperspace jumps - and FC don't jump that way. Since there is no system close enough to make a jump you are stuffed :)

My actual 1600ly I also got with Carrier jumps.
But there I explored the Systems around. I think because of that I got the update.

In HIP 58832 (Rackham's peak) it isn't possible to explore an other System.
And this system is marked as "not visited". Check your map, when some of you visited the system. It's only reachable with Carrier.
So this is definitively an bug.

And this game has so many stupid bugs that only waste time.

Did you actually get off your carrier at all?

My advice OP would be to just grab your favourite ship, install a fuel scoop (if you haven't already), set a course of 10,000 lys towards Sag A* and follow it until your 5,000 lys thingy has updated. Then return to the engineer. Don't use an FC (apparently it's exploitation). Much quicker than waiting for a response you want to hear from FDev because their first response wasn't what you wanted.

You need to make a jump (high wake) to have the distance you travelled increase. The distance is measured when you high wake and exit a jump. If you do not high wake the system does not (re)calculate your location. You are in a location; a Station with a name/id which was moved. Just entering SC does not work to update the number. You need to make a jump.

The requirement is "Attain a maximum distance from your career start location of at least x light years." It does not care how you get there..
