is it hate week?

So, suddenly everyone is hating. .is it a concerted effort? Are there folk out there trying their best to kill this game before it's even launched.?
you are doing well if that is your intention. I for one would prefer it if you put your big girl panties on or just left.

If anything will kill this game it is FD launching the game too early and it getting hammered by the non harcore games, reviews, etc. Thats what people are worried about.

Many games have done this, and failed to impress people from the beginning, after that they died because the community dwindled and subsequently there was no funds to make the game better.

We will see who is right in the end. It all comes down the how much content is added on release. If its underwhelming, it doesn't matter what me your you think, this game will die within a few months after launch. Most gamers are not patient enough to stick around for "post release content" thus they will leave and they will never come back and thus there will be no money or reason to dev post release stuff.

The only fair reviews of this game will be the ones who state that it works, seeing as there is no "end game" as it were anyone who dare states "it lacks content" simply does not understand the game concept. Also bare in mind that usually its the minority loudest people who seem to be talking. For every post you see that is negative there are probably 5 silent people who are perfectly happy with the game, unfortunately its usually the loud people who get the most attention.

I'm wondering if one of the other game companies have hired people to come here and trash Elite: Dangerous, for fear it'll out do them.

Let's see what happens. I'm sure this game has the big future. Many things depend not only on development, but also marketing.

5? more like 500 happy players for each negative "OMAHGAWD they lied to me, refund me now, I paid good money, now you'll die for sure" offliner.

I for one didn't even know anything was an issue until just a few hours ago. For months I've been hearing this game isn't MMO enough. Today, this game just having any connection to the internet has brought out the pitchforks and torches.

Looking at this reddit post http://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/2m4113/if_you_think_rsi_forums_are_bad_you_should_check/, then looking at the forum's joining date of some ( most?) haters, one could say a lot of things......
I find it amazing when people who joined the forum in November of 2014 speak for kickstarter things missing.....

It will pass. I don't think FT will just walk away if a mass crowd or even gaming companies despise the common practice. No matter what, it's impossible to please everyone completely. Oh well, let them go if they wish. Many will return eventually, others will not. They are entitled to their opinions and their choices matter only to themselves should they slander. As for the rest of us this is more than a simple gaming experience. It's definitely the saving grace for space simulation and gaming. Something that had for sure died a long time ago.

So with respect, let those who hate FT leave.

Be as it may, I left RSI because of my own reasons as well. But that doesn't mean I won't ever go back once they get their issues situated.

I think they are gradually accepting that things have changed and it was unavoidable.

Sad, isn't it. Can't please anyone.

I will take the no offline mode version of ED over what SC currently has, both games have been in development for about the same amount of time but the difference here is that we can actually play ED, SC has this bottomless list of features that they want to put into the game, but instead of doing it the way FD is they are trying to get everything into the game at launch, thus forcing it into the never ending concept and development cycle, and at the rate things are moving over there we will not even see it before 2017, at which point FD/ED will have been out for 3 years and have all of it's previously promised content put into the game and functioning correctly.

So a lack of an offline mode for a playable game that will keep on evolving and is more preferable imo than a game that tries to deliver everything at launch and fails because of it.

Also using the whole argument of 'what are we going to do when FD shut down the server?' is pretty pointless and stupid imo as FD will not be shutting down the server for a very long time, which is in part thanks to the p2p multiplayer system keeps costs down amongst other things.

Why are people not be happy with the fact we actually have an almost 100% functioning game with most of the promised features already added ingame?

Sorry if I rambled on a bit there, but honestly I just don't get where all this hate, bile and other negative mumbo jumbo is coming from, 3 days ago everyone was happy playing the beta, but now there is no offline mode and suddenly it is like London tower is burning down and the earth is about to start orbiting and rotating the wrong way around the sun.

Personally I think it's absurd to call what's happening 'hate' when, at least as far as I can see, it's mostly worry.

I know for a while I've been looking at the state of the game and the calendar and praying they weren't serious about a 2014 launch.

The announcement of an official launch date put a stake through the heart of that particular hope.

That lead to the sadly inevitable, even though it never comes to pass, super-secret "Jesus Patch" talk that seems to come up every time an undercooked alpha/beta gets close to deadline. Everything will be fine, the devs are using a patch waaaaaaay ahead of us, you've only seen a tiny slice of the game, there's so much more, just you wait 'til Gamma and you'll see!

The newsletter, filled with buckets of marketing-speak and truckloads of attempted expectation management, pretty much put an end to the "Jesus Patch" talk.

The whole 'offline only' mode was just the icing on the cupcake. A big deal, and understandably so, to some, to many others "just" the proverbial straw.

Are there folk out there trying their best to kill this game before it's even launched.?

Quite the opposite, it's more a matter of being concerned we're watching a slow motion suicide.

Fact is, nothing anyone says here is going to matter to how the game is received by the wider world. But many, myself among them, are worried that if it releases as is it's going to get roasted, toasted, and forgotten so fast it'll get a speeding ticket. That's something most of us would prefer not to see happen.

you are doing well if that is your intention.

Hardly. Neither my expressing my concerns nor your ludicrous attempts at white knighting are going to make or break this game, or frankly have any meaningful impact at all.

I for one would prefer it if you put your big girl panties on or just left

Well, as someone who is currently wearing her 'big girl panties' I have to question on what basis you have reason or the right to tell anyone to 'leave'.

If most gamers aren't patient for post release content then why does pretty much every game do it?
