General Is it just me, or does my game look really bad for ultra settings? any way to make it look better?

I saw the above in a redit post whilst trying to fix my issues with graphics quality. I am not a member, so I thought I would relay my fix (for me - may not help you) in here instead.
I had tried all of the suggested fixes there, but they didnt work.

My Elite Odysee game was set to the max graphics and still looked like it was set at a low level.
I tried messing around with all of the settings to get it looking better, but it failed to work, so I tried going form borderless to full screen, which sorted the issue and it istantly looked 1000x better.
I was then able to put it back to borderless and it still looked great.
I am not saying this will work for you, but its so out there a fix, many may not actually try it.

Hope this helps for some people

The attached Jpegs are not great quality but you can see the difference

AMD 7700 / ASUS 4070 / ASUS B650A

I'm guessing you have upscaling turned on. Switch it off in options, the implemented AMD FSR is the worst upscaler ever.

(Fdev, DLSS when? The engine clearly supports it!)

No I turned everything on and off again. it made no difference.

It was fixed by setting the screen to full screen. That sorted everything.

I was previously on borderless.

Went through various suggestions, but nothing had worked.

When I had gone full screen it instantly cleared everythig up and then I could change it back to borderless with no issues.

Was a pain to be honest, but still its sorted now and looks much better.

its hard to see on the pics as they are just jpeg screen shots.. but it was fuzzy and like it was much lower resolution, even turned up to the max before I sorted it. as soon as I did it was crisp and lots more detain and shading, etc making it look more realistic.

Funny thing about "how does my screen look" is we're using our own graphics to decide. It reminds me of TV commercials where they show you how good one TV looks. You're seeing it on your TV and you're like "wow that looks so much better than my TV". We could tell the difference between Minecraft and Crysis graphics, but some of the assessment is just translation error.

Glad you got it sorted. I have similar issues with various games like Fallout 4.

Fortunately I knew it looked pretty ace before I swapped to Windows 11, so I knew something was amis when I went on and it didnt look good any more.
And having changed all the settings you would think would make a difference, I thought I would add it on here, just in case someone else was struggling... coz how random is it that swapping from borderless to fullscreen sorted it! pretty random.
