I dont think those two things are related in any way.
I have been getting frequent* crashes since the Wings 1.2.06 update.
*meaning I've crashed to desktop maybe 3 times. But before this update I had only crashed maybe once or twice since the game's release and these crashes are probably due to the stuff I do in conjunction with the game.
