is it me or the route plotter is getting better?

I just spent few days in the Spirograph Nebula (BD-12 1172), I could not plot the way in from the bubble without going around some permit areas and dividing the trip, but yesterday I could plot the route back in one piece. I did look at Col 70 permit locks but they seem to be still in place...

I wouldn't be surprised. I think FDev has been making a lot of stealth fixes on things these last few weeks. I think in general it does behave a little better than when 2.4 initially hit.

Not sure, anything over 1kly still takes an age to complete that its just not worth the time

thats the case for Xbox anyway as of yesterday

I don't think you can draw any real conclusions from that since the positions of the stars might make it possible to plot in one direction rather than the other. To do a meaningful test you'll need to go back to your starting position and attempt to plot a route back to the Spirograph Nebula.

I think I can explain this observation.

The problem is, Col 70 is a hollow ball - it's got a bunch of non-permit-locked sectors "inside it". Think of it like a cup. The mouth of the cup is pointing at the Bubble, so trying to cross that region from the bubble, the route plotter goes into the cup, then can't figure out how to get back out again.

But coming from beyond Col 70 back towards the Bubble, the route plotter never enters the mouth of the cup, so doesn't get stuck - it just rolls around the outside of the cup and on into the Bubble.

It still has....issues.

A few days ago I plotted a route and it claimed my next fuel stop was the system I was already in, even though there were plenty of M stars between me and my destination and I had no filter set up to avoid them. I just manually plotted a system ahead and it worked fine after that....issues!

Speed depends on so many factors that it would take a proper reasearch to find out, but it is definetely much faster. What I think I see is something else, before it was drawing a straight lines more or less, now seems to be capable to draw quite a curve around permit locked places, but again it may be just me seeing things :)

One of the most erratic routes I've taken was on my Asp with 54 Ly to the little gem nebula, it was 700 Ly long but took like 5 minutes to plot it.
