Is it my eyes or as the 2.4 beta better graphics in my rift

Just tried the beta and thought it looked a lot clearer and sharper than normal play, so I first though ill check the graphic settings to see what the beta was set at
and transfer them over, but as all you beta testers will be muttering they are the same as are the controls etc etc.
So is it just my eyes?

I don't think the change log said anything about that. So if you switch back and forth do you still notice a difference?

I may dl this beta and have a look. Hell, I may even start playing again. ;)

I have been in and out tonight, the beta has lots of steam or smoke in the letterbox of stations, its a great look not sure if its throwing me, but I caint help thinking or seeing it all looks so much clearer.

Big thing with this update technically, is they are now dropping 32bit support and starting to use more RAM, primarily graphics memory.

Not by a huge amount but seems to help maintain a better FPS across the board.

Colors are more saturated, shaders are clearer and the images have higher contrast. The overall quality of the graphics are better with an additional increase on VR performance on top. Even the skybox is much more defined. Some art team at Frontier has done a real number here.

I feel there is a slight increase in clarity. But nothing extremely dramatic. Anecdotally from all the replies here, some polish has probably been added. :)

Yes, on my end i can confirm a slight increase in clarity but more important: a performance boost. In the alien ruins or thargoid sites i was running on the edge with my 1070, had to tone down surface render settings sometimes, now in 2.4 beta the higher settings work smooth like a charm. Quite happy!

I tried the beta, first time playing in 10 weeks (Rift). When I returned to the surface, the station interior looked incredibly sharp. But once flying around a bit, I didn't notice much of a difference, and when I returned to the station, the interior still looked shimmery like I remembered. I'm sure there may be some improvements, but I doubt it's all that dramatic. I'd like to see some before & after pic, for confirmation, but I don't think you really can in VR.

Has anyone noticed whether the improvement is with the Vive as well?

Vive user here and the first thing I noticed was the performance improvement. All settings the same, and I push it quite high with my 1080 Strix(v385.28 drivers, in-game SS=.65, HMDQ=1.25, SteamVR SS=3.5(roughly 1.8-9 old method), async-rep=on, interleave=off, always on=off, adv SS filtering=off). It has been smooth as butter so far. In 2.3x, I still would get a bit of stutter at stations and such, but I didn't notice any at all in 2.4. Flying down to the thargoid crash site and doing close flybys around the site just looked and performed great. Thinking back, I just had a sense of how nice and clear everything looked, so I'm sure there is something to graphics improvement too.

I hope it sticks. Feels like it's the best it has ever been in VR.

dunno but this made me salivate ...

i noticed an improvement as well. I just hope it is not due to the beta server with less traffic and better latency.

I am getting performance. I'm basically on ultra now with little or no stuttering. Before I was on low/high with some stuttering.

Nice one, thanks. Looking forward to the improvement!

I think they've either improved the textures or how the game does antialiasing, because I play on a normal 2D monitor and I also have the impression that everything looks somehow sharper on 2.4.

Non VR people are also reporting better quality graphics and better performance on the general forum with the BETA too. Sounds like some optimisations have been implemented. Can't wait for it to go live, it keeps on getting better and better

Definite performance improvement. I would hit sub 45fps (I have ASW on permanently) using 2xSS and get judder at Broderick Gateway in Live.

In Beta its staying above 45fps and my ASP glided in smooth as silk. WIN.

GTX 1080 Memory Usage has increased so its definitely using the card more effectively.

Denser smoke at station entrance is nice as well.
