Is it now possible to DESTROY a station?

If I remember correctly from a long time ago.... I read a comment that eventually destruction of a station by players would be possible. This was not possible to test in the past because the station would always retaliate and destroy a player firing on the station.

Now that the ALIENS have disabled stations we actually have the situation where the stations are unable to retaliate with their defensive systems.

That made me wonder, is it NOW possible for a player to destroy a station?

I am guessing no, but I bet nobody has tried it with the new content.

Imagine what it could do to power play balance if your "alien disabled" station could actually be removed from the game. Imagine the PvP combat that could center around the area.

You can always give it a shot...lol

The stations were attacked in a scripted no visible event. If they would add that feature in I imagine lots of PVP salt miners ganging up on all the popular stations and try destroying them cause they got nothing better to do.

I don't think Fdev would ever be ballsy enough to go ahead and fully destroy a station, it would cause too much hassle for them.

Stations still don't have "hit points", so they can still take infinite damage. Don't forget, these stations aren't "being attacked" in the usual sense; they are spawned already damaged, just like the battered capital ships and megaships in Thargoid USSs. Even giving stations hit points wouldn't necesasrily make them destructible; capital ships have hit points and you can't blow those up.

And I'd agree; give players the power to destroy (or even just damage and temporarily shut down) stations and the entire galactic economy would grind to a halt in a week. Don't forget: this isn't EVE. There is no way to defend "your station" from being attacked and destroyed by players in Solo.

I'm thinking maybe now would be a good time to move my fleet out of Diaguandri and spread it out a bit...

Yes there is. send a stray bullet into the station (in solo) and your ship wont last long. (Been there! Done that!)

I'd say yes, with time.

I'd say no frikin way. We all know what would happen if FD allowed players to destroy or heavily damage stations. 90% of the bubble would be gone 'For legitimate role playing reasons'

At most we will probably see an evolution of station disruption, a bit more depth than dumping thousands of UA Thargoid Sensors on the blackmarket.
