Is it possible to fuel scoop from a red/blue sun?

I have a fuel scoop installed on my ship and while communting around Core system sectors i ran out of fuel (Not enough to jump anywhere) I have flown close to the suns in this system yet my fuel scoop wont deploy. I flew in to the sun and still nothing....

Is there anyway to refuel other then a "Normal" sun?

You can refuel from some white / blue stars - particularly A and O and F class ones.

You cannot refuel from L class red dwarfs (the very red small stars) or T Tauri stars, which come in orange, yellow, and white varieties. Nor can you fuel from white dwarfs (very, very, very hot) or neutron stars (obviously.)

The mnemonic 'Oh be a fine girl, kiss me!' helps you remember the main sequence star types (OBAFGKM) which are scoopable. You can see the class of the stars in a system from the info page in the galaxy map, even for unexplored systems.

Edit: And if you get yourself trapped in a system with no scoopable stars and you ca'n't jump out, you're dead. Self destruct and take the lesson home with you for the next trip! And don't feel bad, it happens to everyone at least once.

Example: In a cobra, it is normal to expend 2000 - 4000 worth of fuel in a single mission run.. I haven't paid for fuel since I got the B class scoop..

Thank you for the reply. Atleast my ship only costs 15k insurance. I will remember this for next time. On a side note when i first started the game i could press "T" when looking at a sun and it would explore it. How come i can no longer do that? Am i missing a ship upgrade or just doing something wrong?

You just need to target it. 'T' is the default binding for 'target' but you may have rebound it, or it got unbound by a patch or something.

The point is you just have to target it. Check what your binding it! <g>

I just checked my settings and my "Select target ahead" is bound to "T" i have tried to target them while in supercruise speed also within the SOI but for some reason nothing happens. I cant even select the sun. Could this just be a bug should i maybe redownload/sync the game files?

Can you target them by going to the navigation pane and selecting them as a destination? If so, I have no idea what the problem is.

If it's an unexplored system you have to have a discovery scanner before you can target the sun. Maybe you don't have one?

You need to have a discovery scanner to be able to scan anything. Without it you won't "explore" or scan it as you said.

Did you sell your basic discovery scanner?

I have a viper and considering that i do a 150k credits mission every 10-20 minutes i really dont care about 2000 credits for a full tank ;-)

Say.. has anyone ever wondered why there is no "Fuel Commodity" ? I think it would be neat to have fuel prices fluctuate due to supply and demand.. A person could make a modest living that way.. Stack the ship with fuel tanks and then sell the goods to stations for resale..

There is, it is called the Hydrogen Fuel. It fuels everything in the game including ships.... according to the description.
