is it possible to join friends in game?

hello all,

this is my first post and I am a complete elite dangerous noob, to say the least, lol.

the thing is my and my mates have searched all over for information on how to join each others game. I mean being on the same server and able to see each other flying around. we have joined the same group, and started group games, but to no avail.

all we want tot know is, well is it possible? if so, how so?

anyone who really knows if this is possible please could you drop me a reply here. if you don't know and are just speculating on how, like we are. for instance "hey why don't you try this" then sorry, but I need a concrete "yes" and here is how you do it or "no" this is not possible for whatever reason. I really cant understand why it's seems so impossible or it seems like a matter of chance that we would end up in the same server or something. hope that's not true.

1. Play in open, or all in the same private group
2. All join the same wing (max. of 4 in a wing)
3. Make sure you are all in the same system
4. One person turn on their wing beacon, the rest of you fly to it

Remember: space is big.

hey cheers mate,

had a ball last night, me and my mates noobing around space crashing into landing pads and over shooting destinations here there and everywhere. top man thank you again.
