Newcomer / Intro Is it possible to remove combat training from the launcher?

There are both combat training and the game itself in the product list in my launcher after the log in, combat training is selected by default. So, every time I click the big red button without thinking the demo starts to install.

It's not a big thing I guess, still kinda annoying. Is it possible to do anything about it?

It should remember your selection - my launcher does, unless I've somehow blocked out having to change it. First time I loaded it up, defaulted to Combat Training - after playing the normal game, next time I opened it, still selected on main game. Can anyone else weigh in?

Um....no

I believe it's a way for folks try out the game before purchase ....

I suppose you could always jump over to the Suggestions section, where this sort of stuff should be posted and try in there.....

try something along the lines of separate buttons or something

good luck CMDR

I think your answer is in your question CMDR ;)

MacGyver is correct. It does become the default. Points.

This is an annoyance. Every time I log in I have to tell the launcher that I still don't want to play the tutorial, just like the other times I've logged in. Minor annoyance, but still annoying.

Mine remembers. Perhaps your game is installed in "Program Files (x86)"? Windows does strange things in there and many times interferes with programs (games) from updating certain files...like perhaps the one that remembers which selection you last used on the launcher.

Mine defaults to main game after I log in.

Maybe because you actually haven't installed the combat training missions it's defaulting to that until you do? You could try installing that and see if it makes a difference?

I'm not tech wizard but I think everybody's game runs from X86 as the game is not a native 64-bit application.

Mine remembers, .... But.. If you do accidentally manage to run the demo it seems to reset video preferences. Only caught it a couple of times, but it would be good to be able to remove the option and files once the full version is installed.

I'll try this. I have yet to install the training missions (legally), so this might be a deciding factor. If so, good catch.

Nope. The game runs from wherever you installed it. It's just that most programs default to wanting to be installed in "Program Files (x86)" - and the worst/laziest ones don't let you change the destination folder.

Trip report: installing Combat Training doesn't solve the problem. Downloading the updated launcher (which decided to update right after I installed the damn CT), however, does. So it's all well and good now, except the launcher now has play button throwing an unhandled exception if you press it before you log in. That was my Elite: Dangerous launcher story for today.

Running latest launcher, installer, etc and min ALWAYS defaults to the trainer and wanting me to install it. It never remembers I select the main game and play everytime..

Any other suggestions?
