Is it possible to uninstall the Odyssey Alpha?.

As an early buyer I installed the Odyssey Alpha on its release opened it and had a look round. I set up a few binds to get me moving but found it a bit too much to do so thought I would wait a until it was getting decent reviews here at the forums and went back to my Horizons install. Horizons was working fine until three days ago when suddenly some controls on my X56 would stop working for no apparent reason. For example I am scanning a system using the FSS, have scanned several of the bodies without a problem when suddenly the button assigned to scan the planet doesn't work anymore, or I am mining in a ring have fired of loads of prospectors and suddenly that doesn't work either. Sometimes I can exit and resume and that fixes it for a while but twice last night it completely stopped my X56 binds from working. This has nothing to do with the X56 ghosting issues previously reported on several forums, I know about that and how to fix it.

Last night when my X56 binds stopped working I thought I would open Odyssey and see if I could delete the binds I had previously set there and found there was an update. Thinking perhaps this somehow may be the problem I let it update and then on opening Odyssey opened the binds file I had set reset it to basic and then changed it to the Saitek X56 pre-set, thinking this might solve it. I exited Odyssey opened up Horizons and made sure that I applied my own X56 binds file. Started playing again and everything worked for about 20mins when it all went pear shaped again. Unless someone knows otherwise I am pretty certain this is being caused by the Odyssey install and as I would now rather wait until Odyssey is working a bit better for non tekkie players like me. I would like to know if it is at all possible to uninstall the Odyssey Alpha?.

doubt it m8 sounds coincidental too me tbh
but yea find your install probucts folder( mine for eg storage location is C:\Users\STRONTIUM DOG\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products
As suggested above delete the test folder
sounds to me like your stick has a power or physical connection problem does it work fine on other games?
what does your binding log say if its something like device error device not found then that's probably the problem
but like I say a different game is a sure fire test there are many free flight sim downloads ect to try out an test available
very often hotas faults are intermittent ie one min working fine the next it disconnects briefly due to a dry soldier joint breaking down for eg
which ed would rec in its log as device not found ect (windows often beeps when you plug\disco in\out a usb device you should never hear that in game)
the other thing is power loss which is similar in nature to the above type of fault
but the ed bindings error log file cant really tell you which type of fault it is only that it did occur if the fault was of that of a volts drop nature.
C:\Users\yournamegoesinhere\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings
for binding errors log file
(if skilled a turboflame type lighter can put a very quick shine on some of those hotas joints if that's the case)
of course RMA if still under warranty and sufficient power ruled out via a mains powered usb pc hub
sometimes this may be just a simple case of unplugging uness devices which may zap the 5v rail printers ect

Well I uninstalled Odyssey as shown above on Saturday, since then I have had a 2-3hr session each day on Sat/Sun and today Monday without any bindings problems whatsoever so I think that the bindings I set for Odyssey were affecting my bindings for EDH somewhere along the line?.

possibly if you were using a custom setup and have not renamed it
the default for ed is custom3.0.binds I suggest you rename this (ship +srv controls)
the default for the odd is custom 4.0 which it will switch too when run (ship +srv+foot)
see the bindings guide top of this subforum on how to backup rename store and recover bindings or last but not least reset to default (not recommended)

You might be onto something there Strontium Dog. I remember using your walkthrough when I set up my X56 about 9mths ago and only left the "MyX56.3.0. binds and a StartPreset.start" file in that folder. On checking it just now I found a MyX56.4.0.binds added. Now I have uninstalled Odyssey so I guess it is safe enough to delete that .4.0 binds file. So if I reinstall Odyssey later on when it is more stable and a lot of the kinks worked out I should do a complete new binds file just for Odyssey, excuse my ignorance but at 71 I never grew up with this stuff?.

Odyssey should just have appended (added to the end) your 3.0 binds.
Strange that it messed up your original binds. But the proof of the pudding etc. ;)

YA as above
the way to think of your binding folder is it is your personalized spaceship keys ya just like your car keys
if you remove that folder(spaceship keys) from where they plug in ie here C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options (you could just leave those keys(binding folder)on your desktop if you like)

the ship will automatically cut a new set for a new pilot to personalize as soon as the game is restarted ie a new binding folder
but in this instance we have no new pilot so that new binding folder can just be deleted (as long as the game is not running otherwise your ship will say "aggggh theres no keys here ill cut a new set for a new pilot " that's why we close down the game when renaming stuff
so the ship must always have keys plugged in (because if no keys are there it will "cut a new set" or make a new binding folder)
so you could just put your bindings folder(keys) that are currently on the desktop back where they plug in and off you go
once the game is restarted....
now if you make A copy of that binding folder on your desktop your pc will say but its named the same so you may have to rename that for eg binding folder 2 for eg as long as its called or renamed again to just bindings when plugged back in where it belongs it will work....…………….
right hopefully you will have a basic understanding of the binding folder or personalized spaceship keys
as I like to think of them.
As you know from my guide my renamed ED spaceship keys are called STRONTIUM DOG CONTROL 3.0.BINDS if the (key fob) binding folder is opened and content examined
when I run odd for the first time the ship basically said "those are old keys I am afraid and no good for me I only work with version 4.0keys and above
tell you what ill do for ya ill create a new set called STRONTIUM DOG CONTROL4.0. binds
that has all the above binds you set in version 3 and will just wait for you to input the keystroke bindings you need to make your legs work (your ship being a smart arsk ;) )

now the problem is if I restart ED instead now it may use the updated bind file ver 4,0 which is not exactly backwards compatible
and have weird effects so i rename it PUPPYCONTROL4.0.binds instead
that way you will know via the in game preset pull down menu which set to use and should eliminate any confusion
ie strontium dog control for ed (BEING VERSION 3.0)
and puppycontrol for the odd (BEING VERSION 4.0)

hope the above make's a little sense and I am not just barking up a vacant 70 year old tree and to answer your question...……. of course you can just delete it if you wish...…………..
btw in the RAF nowadays unlike spits, your bindings folder is basically known as your flight brick and is basically a removable hd
that way pilots can jump into any available air craft and bring there control pref with them
