Is it safe to leave your SRV unattended on a planet surface and fly away in your ship?

If I’m doing some exobiology, once in awhile it might be handy leaving the SRV parked and flying around in my ship and using the SRV as a beacon (to serve as an anchor, if there’s a rare plant type there, or a hotspot with lots of plant types).

Using coordinates is possible, but not as easy. Is it safe leaving the SRV parked, without it disappearing or self destructing if I fly too far from it?

In alpha it got destroyed when you entered supercruise. I presume it hasn’t changed but I haven’t tried it yet.
I think you should be able to leave it on a planet though… as long as you don’t jump away.
EDIT: The distance is a good point but unfortunately I don’t have any info on that.

leave the srv on the planat , will destroy the srv. u need to buy the next one in a station or base, the srv is cheap at buy
