Is it thief simulator now?! Has to press "pickup" key for a while to get an item

Totally waste player time grabing items. lol
Design team seems did not play to verify the changes they made. To make things logic, set such delay only when NPC nearby or add options to steal or grab, resulting different detection range from NPC. When I kill everyone in the building, I don't care to avoid detection anymore.

This poor and rough move simply killed the only nice experience of onfoot looting.

2 secs to get an item in a size of cellphone, in real life it's also a joke.

ps:
Someone said it's 1 sec and the purpose is to avoid miss pressing to trigger alarm, that is more funny.
How about add 1 sec on draw weapon key or shield up key? that is long enough to eat 1 sinper or close range shotgun and go home.

BTW please dev don't make unreasonable control logics just to "let console play friendly".
As a cmdr of 4k+ hours gameplay experience, I play this game on PC with XBO controller ONLY, from day one. My second longest controller play game is Hitman series.
There was zero miss-pressing happened in both games in my past 2 or 3 years of playing.
When ppl want to stealth, they know what they are doing.

pps:
I just played to verify, it's absolutely not just 1 sec, at least not feel like 1 sec.

FDev are protecting you from yourself ;)
I simply kill everyone in the building lol. They didn't learn the drawer from thief simulator well.
Keep pressing reduce noise and short click mean grab immediately in thief simulator.
This one in EDO did nothing speak of increasing difficulty of "steal".
Here in EDO, it's robbery, no one steal lol

It's one second.
It's designed so that players don't accidentally aggro the entire settlement with one button press. It's legitimately helpful.
I stg some of ya'll will just look for something to complain about.

There are often plenty of things in larger lockers. I don’t want to spend +20 seconds looting one cabinet (especially when I need to be quick).

Maybe FDev should also add a 3 second delay on weapons so we don’t accidentally shoot someone?

But seriously, I am curious to know if this is to solve a heavily reported issue from the playerbase, or simply a design decision?

If the playerbase is not having major issues with accidentally pressing 'E' on illegal objects, I am against it as a design decision. If it has not been reported as a major issue, this provides no benefit to the playerbase that has learned the mechanics of the settlements.

Glad the community managers saw the comments and will circle back on it.

With many Odyssey objectives focusing on illegal actions (Theft/Heist/Espionage/Slaughter/Assassinate/Halt Production/Sabotage/Scavenge), I would imagine most players are pressing E with conviction. After all, you cannot even disable settlement alarms without actively cloning profiles, or manually throwing E-breaches in your backpack.

It's one second more than is necessary and if anyone swipes something and aggros the entire settlement with one button press they have nobody to blame but themselves.
Don't inconvenience everyone else for the sake of people that are in the habit of carelessly mashing buttons.

Not tried it, can see how it would be seen as annoying, but to me, the worst thing about this is, somebody spent time working on it.
That time could have been well spent ensuring that planets don't have 100% shield, instead :p
