Is it to late to start the voyage?

I've just started getting back in to Elite and want to join the distant worlds 2 voyage. Is it to late?

I am currently flying a ASP with a jump range of about 30ly, and about 3 million in cash. What's a recommended cheap ship and load out for long jump range?

Not an expert and not an organiser, but from what i believe, its not too late, especially now as we are all mining 5kly away and waiting for the next WP to be released on 27th at 1900 UTC. so you can easily catch up.

as to your ship, keep the Asp, but i would get it upgraded a little, if you have the knowledge and the willpower you will be able to get that ship up to 70ly jump range, but you prob wont have time to get it that high.

I would suggest you google Guardian FSD and get that on your ship. its a simple way to increase your jump range by 10ly straight away. Also if you have time engineer the FSD to improve the jump range quite a lot. Once your over 40 to 50 ly head on out to us. you can catch up in a few hours of jump/honk, jump/honk.

FAQ says 33.4Ly min , or 17 Ly if you want to use jumponium https://www.distantworlds2.space/faq. Given you seem to have an unengineered Asp it may be best to just head out (via WP1 if you want to actually follow the route).

You're late for the main roster, but may be ok for the 'late' roster. And likewise you won't get into the Fleetcom PG, but other options are available. Main thread is stickied with lots of info :)

Or just sell your AspX and get a DBX with the necessary jump range with minimal engineering. And lots of cash left over.

The secondary "late" roster is for late arrivals, but even if you didn't bother with that, you can still join in. The FleetComm PG will reopen at some point (closed at the moment), but still plenty of ways to participate anyway.

In terms of distance, we're still in the neighborhood. You could probably meet up at Omega in about 2-3 hours.

Its not too late, we're only 5K from the bubble, and wont be heading further out into the galaxy until Sunday, so there's plenty of time to catch up!

yea agree with this, bus seeing as you have an AspX anyway you might as well use it. It has the best Cockpit view in the game for exploration IMO. Go and get that Guardian booster and you wont need any material collecting like Jumponium or engineer matts. you will have 40ly range which is over the minimum jump range.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

I ended up heading out with what I had. I've made it the Omega mining station, made a few credits along the way from scanning and mapping :D

I've applied to join the FleetComm private group, hopefully I'll get accepted.
Are most players running in private groups? I didn't see many when I made it to Omega

Is there going to be any outfitting on the way? I didn't bring an SRV :(

Omega had SRVs.... Not sure if it still does. Else head to Rohini. There won't be outfitting anywhere else as far I'm aware until the CG at the core.... And I wouldn't want to bet in there being SRVs so grab them now (at least let in storage so you can transfer them later)

EDDB is currently showing Eudaemon Anchorage in Rohini as having both 2G and 4G planetary vehicle hangers in stock so you should be able to have one or even two SRVs if you have the space. Whilst you’re there you might want to turn in some exploration data and use the credits to buy some mining modules ready to transfer to WP7 if you want to join in on the mining that will take place there.

I missed out on the CG at Omega through a lack of preparation so I’m all set for the next one as I may well enjoy a change of pace by the time we get there.

Hello CMDR's,
Well I've just got my Conda Engineered last night at last:

Is it too late to get started, I know about the Neutron routes but not wishing to cheat my way to WP3, so can I sign up to a roster list and just head through the maps provided. I can Jump about 60lys at a time, your thoughts please.

Thank you.

BTW just signed up:

It's definitely not too late. You could make your way to WP4 in a few hours. And neutron boosting is completely fine! ;)

It's never too late to join DW2 - unless the expedition is officially over, that is. In that case, you'll have to start your own personal expedition.

Thought I'd just hijack this thread because I'm asking myself the same question. Just started playing last week, after buying ED in the Chinese New Year Sale on Steam. I read about DW2 prior to that and thought it would be great to take part. I currently only have a Hauler, beefed up a bit, so it's not capable doing 30LY in one jump right now, but that is the next thing on my agenda.
As I don't have much time to really roleplay, I'll just try to follow along the expedition, eventually meeting with some of you actually being in the fleet, and exploring on my own, if that is OK.

It's never too late, until it's over. You could start during the week that we'll be arriving at Beagle Point, and catch up there, using the neutron highway. ;) :D
