Engineers is it worth converting my legacy mods into the new engineering system.

Is it worth it for me to go through all of my ships and reroll them with the new engineering system. So far the only ship I have that was engineered with the new system is the chieftain. I mean is the new engineering system better? How can I tell if I would be getting an improvement over a legacy mod?. What are your opinions?

Normaly its better there are exceptions with absolute good rools and boosters and shield with special secundary effects combo. But if you don´t know this you shurly can reroll.

The easiest way to tell if you'd be getting an improvement is to buy another of the same type of equipment that you want to Engineer and store the one that has the legacy Engineered modification - Engineer the new one and compare performance.

For the two ships that I've chosen to switch to the new system (so far), the G5 Increased Range and G5 Dirty Drive modifications are much better than the legacy G5 modifications that they replaced.

As i didn't have any god rolls on any of my mods i've been converting all my ships, 18 of them, over to the new system. i've seen a general increase right across the board, higher jump range (in some cases significantly so), lower power consumption, higher boost, faster drives etc etc, the only old mod that i'm planning in keeping is the 5A shield generator on my cutter

FSD : yes
Combat equipment : If you need the experimentals, then yes.
The rest : Is what you currently have enough ? If yes, then leave that module be.

If you are a god roller, then yes convert everything.

thanks for letting me know guys I'll soon begin the long converting process on all my ships.

There are some grandfathered mods still more powerful than new engineering, check INARA and all the blueprints and compare in fittings to yours.

NEVER "convert" any module that is not expendable!

If you convert, it will be WORSE until you re-roll it higher again. If you don't have the mats, you will be left worse off.

As others have noted, not all "new" blueprints are better that old modules. I have some non-godrolled modules that I will be keeping (shield and bulkheads) because the new mods aren't as good as the decent rolls I have from before.

like other said 2 main things

1: if you dont have mats to roll at lease 6-8 (max out ) dont do it yet
2: SOME god rolsl are better but thats about it,...

i re rolled my shields and boosters.

my resist stayed about the same and i went from 4900MJ to 6551MJ on my shields .
i gained 1 LY on my FSD
my thrusters are better as well cant remember by how much but are better

thanks again guys. Appreciate the advice dearly. I'll probably just stick to fsds and multicannons for now. I've got plenty of mats for those. I'll hold off on all the other mats though.

FSD, PD and DD5s are almost sure to give you a significant increase.
You could always post a screenshot of your existing modules if you're unsure.
I'm not aware of any significant changes to MCs, but rail guns got a nice thermal load reduction with superpen and feedback.

LOL I had to chuckle, this made me feel so much better. 18 ships, 5-10 mods on each, lol I better get jiggy.

HRM's are substantially stronger under the new scheme, as are SB's.

Rails may not be as I found one of my legacy G5 rails was slightly better (may not be noticeable).
