Is my ship's computer trying to kill me?

I mean really....

Luckily I got away with only damage to repairable modules.

Worse, the galaxy/universe planned this very moment to attempt murder upon you in particular. Millions of years for a failed plot!

Well, yes. Ship computers need to be wiped every couple of days to avoid this. The process is done automatically at stations, but if you're an explorer, you might notice that after a few days, your ship's homicidal tendencies will start to awaken. It'll try to jump you sandwiched between two hot stars. It'll try to plot you a route where you'd run out of fuel with nothing but brown dwarf stars around. You'll have to be alert to its tricks if you want to survive out there.

Something similar happened to me yesterday. I jumped into a binary star system and got so close to the second star while coming out of hyperspace that my fuel scoop activated. Talk about an adrenaline shot...

It does appear that the choice of drop-out spot is rather arbitrary. I've ended up very near or between close binaries myself.
The ship's navigation computer should really be more careful!
I still quite like the way original Elite did it, you dropped out on the outer edge of a system and had to travel in to get to the sun for fuel scooping.

Few times I have come out of warp, point black in front of a ship. Not killed me yet but I took a lot of damage last time.
