Is Painite found in any particular part of a pristine ring/metallic ring ?

hey guys! So basically i took on a painite mission which i did a while back, found my favourite pristine ring/metallic ring at Darkar, then i started mining... BOOM found painite within 2 minutes. I have now taken on another painite mission, ive done all the same as last time...ive been searching for about 2 days and 4 hours for painite. Was last time just luck guys? or did i look in the right place at the right time? is there a particular part of a ring that painite will be found more commonly?

Thanks guys. ;)

Pristine Metallic. Simple as that.

Try visiting GCRV 1568 if you need a pristine belt. :)

I had another look at your post & I realised what might be happening.

Are you sure that you're still in the A-ring, that is to say, the innermost ring? If you've done what I think you've done, then you've strayed too far from the A-ring, and you are now in a non-metallic ring. Easy mistake to make.

I asume you drop in at random parts of the ring, not the RES sites?

yeh that might be what im doing wrong maybe.

yeh i drop in at random points assuming these all contain painite...are there specific points i should enter at?

I just pick a thick, dense white looking bit in the ring itself... work my way from where I drop in toward the planet to make sure I'm not prospecting the same rocks.

I've had my moments where I've managed to convince myself that not all pristine metallic ring systems are equal and that there may be some system to spotting a given type of rock but sadly now I'm pretty sure they're all the same and you may as well be anywhere on the A ring.
If you're in the right place and still not having much luck finding the big P try logging out and back in.
If you're only after just a missions worth of Painite it shouldn't take long at all find it.

thats what i normally do haha. work my way towards the planet, its just this time im finding no Painite at all! so i thought there was specific parts that contained painite

Aye, the wonder of RNG... pick a prospector and hear the dice roll :)

If you're dropping in on the innermost ring, then RNG is just screwing you over, I'm afraid.

It happens to all miners, you get used to it.

Painite is rare. Finding it, even in a pristine metallic ring, is pretty much entirely down to chance.

Best of luck CMDR. :)

Go Mining first and pick up the Painite - then go to your stations and look for the Painite jobs. Easy hand in and you've done all the hard work already.

Or I used to do the above - have 1 dedicated station (think I mined the Pristine Metallic ring in Argol or something like that) and when I finished I would turn in the job if it were available. If not I would sell anyway.

In my Type 6 miner of 64Ts I used to get on average 20Ts of Painite each trip ... I am very picky about what I accept though into my bins

Try wing mining. Get a couple of friends in fast prospecting Cobras and mining lasers. Work as a mother ship to the others and top up their limpets as needed. Work as a team to scour whole fields quickly and be really picky about what you take. Each miner blasts off chunks without depleting the asteroid which triples the yield assuming a team of three.

If I wasn't making a run on Sag A right now I'd wing up and join you.
