is performing rank up missions causing elite to break?

not sure how I would put this, but after the last patch, was ranking up imperial ranks. what I have noticed however is that every time I complete a rank mission, the game...breaks? as in it crashes shortly afterwards, and I have to relog twice afterwards for every rank up mission. Was completely fine pre-patch with the fed rank missions.
Is it me or a actual issue?

update: it could be because of this:

Servers down (UK) anywhere else?

Crash and servers OFFLINE in red on launcher.
