Engineers Is Plasma Slug good for PAs and APAs these days?

Referring to the title, I know it reduces the damage but that might be a decent trade-off if it means I never run out of ammo considering I still have fuel.

What are other drawbacks which might make me spit it back out?
* Does it make firing slower?
* Does it really use fuel fast to where you wouldn't want to use it in a Federal ship? ;)
* Other

I'll probably try it soon, but I'm just evaluating if that is now.

Plasma Slug is wonderfull for PvE. Bad for PvP as it's all to who got the best.

It doesn't consume a lot of fuel, so you have like infinite ammo.
No it doesn't decrease fire rate.

But i tested it for Rail Guns on an Anaconda. I don't know for the federals ships

I find plasma slug to be a great addition to my plasma accelerators. I run ammoless PvE builds so I can spend time in CZs for BGS reasons. 4x beam + huge plasmac on an FDL. Currently evaluating Chieftain builds.

1) No.
2) Not really, I ran PS on my 'Vette for a while and didn't even notice the fuel gauge go down during short RES sessions. I wouldn't run it on multiple PAs in a notoriously low fuel ship (like the FDL), but most others should be fine.
3) It precludes you from running other PA experimentals, and there are some really good ones. It breaks AI crew (main reason I dropped them from my 'Vette, silly woman just chain fired PAs with no target until I kicked her out of the chair).
